"Isabel, what a melodious name, just like the sweet serenade of a Spanish guitar. And yet, it pales in comparison to your exquisite beauty, señorita," he murmured, his voice dripping with admiration.

"Do you always say that to every woman you meet?" I retorted, a hint of skepticism lacing my words. His smooth, practiced lines had me questioning their authenticity.

"Señorita?" he replied, his voice tinged with surprise. The corners of his lips curled into a playful smile, revealing a glimmer of charm that was hard to resist.

"Well, gracias, señor, for your complimentary words," I responded, unable to suppress a small smile of my own. "But I have to go now. It's not normal for the two of us to be alone in this area, especially at this hour."

With a determined stride, I turned away from him, my heart pounding with a mixture of caution and curiosity. I could feel his eyes on my back as I walked away, his voice calling out, "Señorita, wait."

Ignoring his pleas, I decided to make my way back from the lively social dancing event taking place in the plaza. As I strolled through the bustling crowd, my eyes caught sight of Maria, who seemed to be searching for someone amidst the throng. In that moment, our gazes locked, and I couldn't help but notice a sudden transformation in her expression. Her face morphed into a curious visage, tinged with excitement, as if she was bursting with something delightful to share - something that had undoubtedly made her night an extraordinary one.

"Isabel, where have you been? I was looking for you," she asked in a curious tone.

"Ummm, I was…I was strolling around, you know, enjoying the night," I responded hesitantly, trying to come up with a plausible explanation for my absence.

"And what's with that expression, mi amiga?" I quickly asked, diverting the conversation to prevent her from delving deeper into my whereabouts. "Let me guess, it's Antonio, I saw you two perfectly dancing together," I added, hoping to distract her with a different topic.

Maria's cheeks flushed a deep shade of pink as she exclaimed, "Sí, it was Antonio! Oh, amiga, you have no idea! It was absolutely magical. I've never felt so alive and connected on the dance floor before."

I couldn't help but smile at Maria's confession. It was evident that dancing with Antonio had left a profound impact on her. "I knew it! You two looked absolutely mesmerizing," I said, my voice filled with genuine happiness. Maria's smile grew wider, and her eyes sparkled with delight.

As Maria continued to share her confession about her dancing with Antonio, our conversation was abruptly interrupted by a familiar voice shouting nearby. Curious, Maria and I turned our attention towards the source of the commotion, only to discover Padre Pablo angrily berating a young lady. Intrigued, we walked closer to get a better understanding of the situation.

Padre Pablo's voice boomed with disapproval, "Such a disgrace for your family! You don't even know how to greet a Padre." The young lady, visibly shaken and apologetic, responded in a sincere and fearful tone, "Lo siento Padre Pablo, but I didn't see you passing by." However, Padre Pablo aggressively approached the young lady, his right hand poised to strike. Without warning, he delivered a forceful blow to her face, causing her cheeks to flush red and tears to well up in her eyes. It was an intense hit, leaving the young lady visibly shaken and hurt.

Padre Pablo's tone remained irritated and disappointed as he scolded her, "Can't you see that you are talking to a Padre, and yet you dare to answer back? Tsssk!" With a final disdainful glance at us and the other witnesses, Padre Pablo continued on his way, displaying no regard for the impact of his actions on the young lady or those around him.

The atmosphere was filled with disappointment as the murmurs of the people grew louder, directed towards the character of the young lady. It was evident that the reason for her walking away was due to sheer embarrassment. Maria and I were taken aback by the situation, unable to react or say anything. Realizing that it was also getting late, I suggested to Maria that we should head home. She agreed, and so we began to walk away from the crowd.

However, just as we were leaving, Maria suddenly stopped in her tracks. She had forgotten to bid farewell to Antonio, she informed me. Without hesitation, she turned around and made her way back into the crowd, approaching Antonio to convey her intentions. I was filled with curiosity, wondering why Antonio was with her. Intrigued, I patiently waited to discover the answer.

When they finally arrived, it became clear that Antonio had asked again Maria to accompany her to the carriage. The carriage had been waiting for us, as Antonio had requested it to wait. A sense of joy washed over me as we walked towards the carriage. It was evident that Antonio's intentions towards Maria were pure and genuine. I could see the affection reflected in Maria's eyes as well, confirming that she harbored similar feelings towards Antonio.

I sat comfortably inside the carriage, my heart filled with joy as Maria animatedly recounted every detail of her evening at the social dancing event with Antonio. Her eyes sparkled with excitement, and her words spilled out with enthusiasm, painting a vivid picture of the magical night she had experienced. As she spoke, her voice danced with delight, and I couldn't help but be swept away by her infectious happiness. I listened attentively, hanging on to every word, as she described the elegant plaza, the enchanting music, and the graceful dance moves that had transported her into a world of pure bliss. With each passing moment, I could feel her joy radiating from her, and it warmed my heart to witness her so genuinely elated. In that fleeting moment, as we journeyed back home, I cherished the simple pleasure of being a part of Maria's happiness, content to bask in the glow of her joyous tale.
