Astoria Evergreen

I received a letter from the Kingdom of Sirens inviting me to Prince Ezra's coronation. He was a friend of mine.
Almost like Ernest. I sent him letters and sometimes talked to him. He was going to become a king so he probably wouldn't get time to see me and neither would I with Ikaris on my back. I was going to attend this coronation, it would be the last time I'd ever see him. I put my invitation in my drawer. “Will you go tomorrow?” Mila asked. “Yes. I shall.” I answered. “Won't the prince be angry? Have you asked for permission?” she asked. I shook my head. “Why would I? It's not as if he spends time with me.” I answered. 𝑆ℎ𝑒 𝑐𝑜𝑚𝑢𝑛𝑛𝑖𝑐𝑎𝑡𝑒𝑠 𝑤𝑖𝑡ℎ ℎ𝑒𝑟 ℎ𝑢𝑠𝑏𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑎𝑠𝑘𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑓𝑜𝑟 𝑝𝑒𝑟𝑚𝑖𝑠𝑠𝑜𝑛 𝑓𝑜𝑟 𝑎𝑙𝑙 𝑠ℎ𝑒 𝑑𝑜𝑒𝑠. “You're playing fire your highness. You've been warned by the king about your disobedience, will you really leave tomorrow without even telling him at least?” she warned. She was right but what would my simple words do? It's not like our relationship is even a relationship. Even if he would not give me permission to go I would be going. I had to buy Ezra a present.
What would I buy him? A ring engraved with his name. His first name. He never liked it, it had memories connected to it. Bad memories but I guess it would make him happy as these memories made him the man he is. A confident, humble, reserved, intelligent and powerful man. I'm sure all the women in his kingdom drool and lust over him.
I was to be married to him but I'm stuck with this arrogant idiot. Astoria, don't judge him. He's trying to be civil. Civil my foot! He burnt you letters, he definitely knew the purpose of them.
The voices in my head were debating loudly. “Should I prepare you a dress?” Mila asked. I shook my head. “No need. Call for Ikaris.” I ordered. “Why should I do it? He is your husband, you talk to him.” she answered back. “Do you want me to send you back to Azalea? Far from your James?” I asked harshly. She shook her head and left. Minutes later he came. I poured him some fruit wine. “What do you want?” he asked. “I'm informing you that I'm attending a party tomorrow. I'm not asking for your permission.” I informed him. He drank the fruit wine. “I shall be accompanying you then.” he said. I froze. Accompanying me? He can't find out I'm half siren no one of this Kingdom should find out. “Oh no, no. It's a female's only party. Delilah and I shall be attending together. I shall meet her there and if I don't come back, I shall probably be with her in her Palace.”I lied. He raised an eyebrow. “I thought you weren't a stereotypical woman. Since when do you attend such parties? Are you hiding something?” he asked suspiciously. “No,I just want to spend time with my friend.” I smiled. He nodded still looking skeptical. “Fine.” he said standing up to leave. I let out a relieved sigh. What was I going to do if he truly wanted to attend this party I speak of? Don't worry about that now Astoria. Just get Ezra a present. Right that. I have get him a gold ring engraved with his full name. I got to the palace's front door with Mila but the guards didn't let me go. “What's going on? Let me go.” I demanded. “We're sorry your majesty, his majesty has not permitted us to allow you leave the Palace.” one of the guards answered. I looked dumbfounded for a second. Ikaris that dumb... I heard his and Ernest voices as they were going to the dining table. I glanced angrily at Mila. She looked away from me. “Your husband, your problem.” she muttered. I made my way to them at the dining table where they had been seating. I stood in front of Ikaris. “Why aren't the guards letting me out?” I asked. “Because I ordered them.” he answered blowing his tea in an attempt to cool it. “Well I need to go out. I have to go buy a dress.” I said.
“I'll have a tailor come by.” he answered still trying to cool the tea.
“No need I have to also buy jewelry.” I answered. “Jewelry can be brought to the Palace as well. There's no use, just give up trying to leave the Palace today.” he said and gave me the cup of tea. I took it and reluctantly drank it. “What are you going to do now?” Mila asked as I paced around my room. I paused getting an idea. I opened the window only to find window grills. I cursed Ikaris in my head. I couldn't jump out of this window. Ikaris was serious about not letting me leave the Palace. He wants to play that game, fine. I touch the cold metal of the grills freezing it instantly. It shatters instantly. I pull up my dress to put my foot out. I jumped out of the window. When I landed on the ground safely I was immediately surrounded by guards. “It was a good idea! You just tried it on the wrong person!” Mila shouted from the window. I looked at the guards raising my arms in defeat. “Fine, fine. You win. I will not leave the Palace today.” I said sighing in frustration. The guards bowed and I rolled my eyes. “Do not practice you stupid curtesy before me. Call for you 'beloved' prince.” I angrily said. One of them nodded and ran off to get Ikaris.
