"Who knew"

KAELIA- Shante and I are waiting in the car while Traci picks up some paper work in some executive building on 5th ave. "So what are you gonna do about graduation?" I ask Shante. "I'm gonna graduate I just gotta see if I can get the extra credit assignments in creative writing, that's the only class i'm having issues with". "Girl you gotta be in class first" we laugh then Traci hits the locks and starts the car while getting off a parking garage elevator with an older gentleman and young lady with long black hair. Traci shakes the young lady and older gentleman's hand, They give him a thick navy blue folder, and then he comes back to the car "What was your meeting about?" I ask as he gets situated in his seat and pulls off he takes my hand kisses it and says between glances at me "we'll talk about it later" I smile and raise my eyebrows "okay but all is well right?" I say through a confused smile so he kisses my hang again and says "yes baby very well, now where to ladies?" He says while looking between me, the road, and Shante in the rearview mirror. I look at Shante and shrug in her direction so she knows the choice is hers she smiles and mouths the word "Doughnuts" I crack up laughing "girl talk" I say aloud " I ain't wanna sound fat seeing how we just ate and all but yeah" she laughs "oh we don't care about nun of that, where you wanna go? Traci says between a laugh " Kae knows" I take Traci's phone and put it the address to this nail shop not to far from where we are " there's a bakery not to far away we found after a tough school day earlier in the year" I say as Traci began to follow the directions "also can we go to a furniture store just to look around I mean we do have a new bed to buy" Kae says glancing back at Shante " I was gonna mention it" Traci laughs "I really appreciate you guys " shante says from the backseat while staring out the window " No problem Te, you're literally my best friend.. Traci you too" "awww" they say at the same time, we laugh, then jam to some music till we get to the bakery. "You knew the place whole time" I say to Traci as he parks and we get out " had a feeling cause they have ice cream too" he says with a slight laugh and walks up to hold the door for Shante and I, we walk past him hand in hand " thank you Traci" we say in unison I wink at him as we enter he smiles wide and takes a step towards me, we steal a kiss before Shante could notice but when she does she asks "what y'all smiling so hard for?"......

After the bakery and furniture shopping.
   
    We ordered Shante's bed for next day delivery then Traci informed me that he was gonna take us to dinner before we go home "okay but where are we going tho" I ask " just ride twin" he says between laughing and taking a sip of his sprite " you should be able to tell tho" he says "really?" I ask looking around trying to put something together but it doesn't click till were pulling up to the diner we went to after our first official date " awww baby" I say getting out of the car and hug him tight as he closes my door then I notice he has the blue folder, and then we walk in and Aaliyah and Ky are standing at a booth waving us over. Shante and I look at each other I shrug confused as to what's going on but I don't question it I just follow Traci's lead and I take Shante's hand so she knows to follow mine. We all greet each other, I introduce Shante and then our waitress comes over to take our drink orders, some time passes and everyone is looking at the menu. Ky stands and addresses the table " alright y'all we are here to celebrate new beginnings..our drinks get delivered while he's speaking so he continues his toast... I don't know about y'all but I can't wait for graduation day, congratulations fellow graduates (he looks at the full table behind ours), family (he looks around the table), new family (he looks at Shante) I just wanna say thank you and here's to new beginnings!" We all lifted our glasses and toasted to our up coming successes, we all eat and fellowship amongst one another and then I feel Traci start to take my hand "can I steal you away for a second?" "But of course" we go to the other side of the diner and sit at the counter he lays the folder on the table and faces it in my direction but he never takes his hands off it instead he reaches to hold my hands over top the folder, he looks me over and then in my eyes and says "we talk about our future a lot and I know what direction we're growing in but I feel like we've been together long enough to start taking intentional steps into our future" he kisses my hands then lets them go " will you take this step with me Kaelia?" He's smiling I'm smiling and he slides the folder to me I open it and instantly get confused there are pictures of houses, really big houses, and contracts and then I see my full government name on a property deed as a co owner the more Iread the more I understand I look up at Traci and start to cry " yes! I love you" I say as I raise out of my seat to hug him just melt in his chest " I love you too" we look through the pictures as he tells me about each house and when we can go see them, his parents and Ky knew and helped him set everything up, now we just have to pick one and get the final paper work drawn up and finalized and we can move when were ready. Sitting here with Traci planning a life I don't know I was worthy of broke me down " you got me in these people establishment crying lookin crazy" I say through a laugh while still crying "you look beautiful and these are happy tears ..right" Tracy says leaning in closer to me "right" I laugh and pull myself together and then we rejoined the rest of our friends Aaliyah asks as soon as We turn the corner "okay can I see them now cause Ky wouldn't show me nothing!?"
