"Yes, Larissa, did you hear?"
"What do you mean? Did you really give up your precious car, which you cherish so much, just to be able to move out with me?" she asked.
It was 11:00 at night. After talking to my mom and realizing that I had to say goodbye to my car, I was trying to process the shock. I called Larissa to explain the opportunity given to me after erasing this major obstacle. I told her everything, but I don't know if she's being stubborn or in shock, she's still fixated on the car issue. It's still an open wound for me, and Larissa is rubbing salt into that wound.
"If you want me to repeat it, then I'll give up moving out," I said, emphasizing each word, speaking with pure excitement.
"Okay, okay, message received. Forget about that, if you start a job and make good progress, are we moving out then?"
"Yes."
"Oh, that's fantastic! Oh my God, finally, I knew it, Sue, I knew you would succeed this time, I just felt it! Oh!" Once again, I moved the phone away from my ear due to Larissa's sudden joyful scream.
"Okay, okay, Lisa, if you scream a little more, I think my ears won't hear anymore."
"Okay, okay. So, what are you thinking for tomorrow? Where should we start? You need to find a place to work that is nice, not too demanding, and at the same time, respects its employees so that there won't be any situation of oppression or humiliation. This will increase our chances of moving out." Without letting her talk more, I said, "Lisa, Lisa, okay. Don't worry about these things; I've got it all covered. I will handle it."
"You have something in mind."
"Of course, I'm not leaving my job to chance, right?"
"What, tell me right away."
"Listen and see how it's done. There's a very famous restaurant we've been going to for years with my mom. The manager there has a lot of respect for my mom. I'll talk to him and get myself hired. I'll invite my mom the same evening for her to see. If I know my mom, as soon as she sees me there, she'll immediately ask me to quit. Because it's a very famous place, and my mom's foreign partners, friends, and their families all come there. Me working there would be a complete fiasco in their eyes. My plan is flawless like this. If it works, then we can move out, and I'll get my car back."
"I hope it goes as you say."
"It seems like you don't trust my plan."
"No, it's not that I don't trust it, but I don't think your mom is that soft-hearted. I'm not sure she'll allow you to work there. And after she kicks you out, I'm not even sure she'll let you move and return your car."
"Come on, Larissa. My mom is not that cruel. Yes, she may seem cold to the outside, but she won't be able to bear seeing me work there. She won't allow me to work, and I won't be considered defeated, which means I've won. So, everything will fall into place, believe me."
"Okay, I believe whatever you say. Well now, I'm hanging up. Sleep well, and start implementing your plan tomorrow."
"All right, good night, I'm sending kisses."
"Me too." After hanging up, I nestled into the comforting embrace of my bed and sleep.
