A week had passed since that day. I had talked to Lia. She told me that she had broken up with Leon, but he wouldn't leave her alone. She was begging her to listen and believe her. But Lia didn't seem to care much. As for Maria, I told her about that night, informing her that Lia had separated from Leon and didn't want to reconcile. However, she insisted on wanting to meet Lia. She asked for Lia's phone number, saying that she wanted to make sure Lia wouldn't make the mistake of returning to Leon, knowing what she had been through. I told her that I could give her the number after checking with Lia and making sure it was okay. She agreed. Later, I spoke to Lia, and she said it was fine to give Maria her number.

Now, Lisa and I were having breakfast.

"Do you know, Sue, Maria and Lia are meeting to talk today."

"Yes, I know. Lia told me. Maria called her and said she wanted to talk..."

"Oh no, you're mistaken. It's not Maria who wants to talk; it's Lia. Lia sent Maria a message, asking if they could talk."

"But Lia told me that Maria called her."

"Clearly, one of them is lying. Anyway, one of them wanted to talk, and they met."

"Exactly."

As the doorbell rang, Lisa and I got up at the same time.

"Who could it be, Sue? Could it be your mom?"

"I don't think so."

"Then who?"

"We'll find out by opening the door," I said, leading the way, and Lisa followed towards the door. At the same time, we both said,

"Emily?"

"Hello, girls." It was Maria's sister, Emily.

"Come on in," I said, stepping back to allow her to pass. When we all moved to the living room, Lisa,

"What would you like to drink, Em? Cola, lemonade, orange juice, or anything else?"

"Thank you, but I'll pass on that. I came here to talk with you about an important matter." Jumping in with curiosity, I asked,

"What matter?"

"It's about Maria and Leon. Last night, Leon showed up at our door. He told Maria to stay away from him and his girlfriend. Today, Maria left home for the first time with her baby. When I asked her where she was going, she said she was coming here, to you, but I knew it wasn't true. Something is going on here, and I think I need to know for the sake of my sister. Is there something you need to tell me?" Lisa and I exchanged glances. Emily had the right to know, but it was best to wait for Maria to tell her these things herself.

"Look, Emily, Maria told us some things, but we can't tell you without her saying it to you. You have to wait; she will tell you when she feels ready."

"You don't understand; she is sick, and for her well-being..."

"How sick?"

"Sick, you know. She's been seeing a psychiatrist, becoming somewhat like a schizophrenic patient. She's creating scenarios in her head and convincing herself of those scenarios. She has been taking medication, but today I realized that she's not taking them. She pretended to take them one by one and has been deceiving me, making me believe she's been taking them for a whole week." I asked with fear,

"But Leon is the father of her baby, right?"

"What Leon? The father of her baby is Ethan."

"But she told us that Leon played a game with her, that she never was with Ethan. So, you don't know about these developments because Maria just learned about them."
