I wandered into the library. There, Elspeth, Sir James, Farleign and who I presumed to be Pamela seemed to be lounging around.
"Oh! I haven't seen you since you were just..what was it, about eight years ago?" The woman with brightly colored red orange hair said, standing up. I felt everyone in the room's eyes divert to me. She glanced over at Elspeth, trying to think.
"Probably nine. But don't overwhelm her Pamela, she only just arrived." Elspeth responded. Pamela nodded.
"Do you remember me?"
I didn't. Surely, if I had seen a woman with her hair color as a child, I would've remembered that.
"Mhm." I said anyway.
"It's great to see you." She smiled back, sitting back down in her spot next to Elspeth.
I looked over at Farleigh, who already seemed to have his eyes towards me. I smiled softly and walked over.
"Hello, Farleigh."
"Hello there, Madelyn."
Me and Farleigh didn't always get along, but we always understood each other. Both Americans, both people who somehow got involved with the Cattans. Farleigh might be more blood related than I am, being Felix's cousin, but sometimes I think the reason we don't always get along is because he thinks they love me more. Just little things, like the way Sir James and Elspeth act towards me. But I was never really sure.
It was either that, or the fact that he could sometimes come across as a stuck up dick to others. Either or, we were always playful with one another. I never took anything he said too seriously. Farleigh was Farleigh.
"What have you been up to? Shacking it away with everyone at school?" He asked with that little smirk on his face just loud enough for the two of us to hear. He knew I broke up with Jonathan, which was the only reason he was asking me that question.
"Maybe. Don't think you could say the same though, could you?" I smirked back.
I watched Farleigh's smirk grow.
I have to say, I missed my banter with him, and I know he's missed mine.
He was about to say something even wittier when Felix entered the room.
"Are you two getting along back there?" He called to both of us, making our heads turn.
"For now." Farleigh responded.
Felix looked at me and beckoned me over with his hand, which I obliged to. He grabbed my hand and we sat together next to Sir James.
I watched as Felix grabbed the remote and put Superbad on.
"Have you seen this?" He asked. I shook my head, flustered by how close we were.
"Maddy, darling, have you met Oliver?" Elspeth asked, looking over at me.
"I haven't, no."
"Is it true his mother is having...trouble?" Sir James wondered.
"Supposedly she needs help. Well, I mean, they probably don't have rehab in Liverpool." Elspeth conversed.
