Such a sight was not what the Artist expected. A sudden wave of anxiousness flowed through his veins, fearing for his position in the court and his life.

Yes, he did follow the Princess around in the royal gardens, unseen and uninvited. Yes, he tried to sneak around and see a more intimate side of her. But never did he wish for that.

All he wanted was more inspiration, something to create a unique piece of art to surprise the Princess and get her eternal recognition.

« I made a mistake...

- Maybe. »

A single word delivered by a voice out of the shadows, coming from a blind-spot between the flowered edges. A voice that should be familiar to the royal Artist... but how did he get here ? So fast ?

« I...

- You kept watching even though you knew leaving was your best choice.

- I am... Well...

- That is why I find you unsufferable. »

The Princess' closest subject's sigh made a chill run through the Artist's spine. He had already heard stories about the Liege's way to deal with the Princess'... matters. He did not want to end up like one of those stories.

« The Princess wants a new piece, something inspired by what you saw. »

Dumbstruck, the Artist just looked at the man with bug-eyes.

« She wants the piece for herself, consider yourself free from the gaze of the Court. Do you understand ? »

Unable to utter a word the Artist just nodded silently... realizing that this day would hang upon his neck like a sword for a long time.
