I saw this request on someone else's unfinished page and decided to write this for them. I took a few creative liberties but otherwise it's pretty much the same. Hope they enjoy it! This is a college AU...

Has a happy ending

Won't You Ever See Me How I See You?

Another day in Denver, another day rotting in his own feelings. Another day in this boring ass University that he hated. It's not like Clyde didn't want to be in school, it's just that he didn't want to keep staring at the back of his best friend's head. Every day it was the exact same, no matter how hard he tried to look away. The only reason Tolkien was here in the first place was because his girlfriend went here. He could go relatively anywhere he wanted, for fucks sake. It made Clyde angry, to think that Tolkien had so many wasted opportunities because he wanted to stay close to her. Hell, he could be in Harvard. He sighed and looked at the board, placing his hand on his cheek. He needed to stop being jealous. The clock was 5 minutes away from when Clyde had to leave for work like he did every day, which always annoyed him. The professor didn't mind but Clyde just wished his own father would be kind enough to scheduled his hours AROUND his classes. Whatever.

It didn't take long for the minutes to pass but before he left, a brilliant idea sprouted in his head. The man opened his phone and quickly sent a text to Tolkien, more or less asking to hang out after he got off. As he walked down the stairs to get to the door, he motioned for Tolkien to check his phone and then left.

After a shift of verbal abuse from his father, he was finally out of that hell hole. Clyde and Tolkien decided that they were going to meet at some restaurant downtown. The rich one had been dying to take Clyde there since he took Nichole a few months back so he took the opportunity. The brunette waited for his friend to come retrieve him since he hadn't taken his car due to the close proximity to work from the school.

As Tolkien coasted up, he rolled down his window, "Get in, Quarterback." That was Clyde's nickname since highschool. You'll never guess why. Clyde rolled his eyes and opened the passenger door, sliding in the seat and buckling up. "Let's go," he said as he smiled and looked toward his friend. The friend nodded and pressed his foot on the gas.

When they arrived, almost immediately they were seated at a table. As they read over menus, Clyde couldn't help but watch as Tolkien read so quickly. Why did he care so much? Okay, the answer was kinda clear. Clyde had a big fat man crush on Tolkien and has for years. But it was so odd because Clyde had only ever felt like this about girls. Things were just so confusing. You know what? You are supposed to be completely transparent with your friends. And he trusted Tolkien. He should tell him.

Just as Tolkien set down the menu, Clyde looked up and spoke, "Hey, man, there's something I have to tell you." Tolkien purked up, "Yeah? Is something bothering you?"

The former Quarterback took a deep breath before spilling his guts. "Yes, actually. I have a mega crush on you and have for years. I don't care if you like me back, or anything. I just want to stay friends and to do that I feel like it needed to be said..."

The other looked surprised and a bit upset by the whole confession. "You like me?" He repeated, his tone clearly stating that he was a bit pissed. Clyde had no clue why.

Tolkien stood up and began to walk for the door silently. But Clyde followed. He couldn't take well... Nothing for an answer. Once they were outside Tolkien kind of just let go and began to raise his voice at his friend.
