Chapter 3

Jake's POV

I get upstairs and start to open my locker as I see Tara angrily storming into the hallway yelling "JAKE!".
I look over at her confused.
"We need to talk. Right now," she says with a red face.
"What is it, babe?" I ask her.
"Is it true that you got hard on the new girl?!" she says trying to be calm but mad.
"What kind of question is that? I told you I didn't even get hard yesterday, the guys made it up. Who are you even believing?".
Tara stares at him then down at the floor and back up again. "I believe you, babe, just so many people came up to me saying you did!".
"Oh really? Like who?" I say crossing my arms.
"Well, Colby, Sam, Johnnie, uhh...another guy who sits at your table..".
I roll my eyes and look at her "Just say you heard the guys and got mad," I tell her, narrowing my eyebrows down with a slightly annoyed look.
"I just heard it, okay?? It's not okay for somebody's boyfriend to get hard to a girl he just met. That's pervy! And you could be cheating on me!".
I roll my eyes and shut my locker. "Why would I be cheating on you? If I liked somebody else, I would break up, not cheat. And as I said for the twentieth time, I didn't get a boner, especially to the new girl".
She stares at me for a few seconds then storms away, making Brittany follow her.
I see Karina walk down the hall with Jenny and I look at my locker and pretend to try and open it. I see her start to open hers as Jenny leaves to walk to hers.
I want to talk to her but I don't know how to start the conversation. I build up the courage to walk over and suddenly I'm standing right next to her locker.
"Hey," I say, not knowing what to say next.
"Oh, hi!" she says turning to her side to face me, "what's up?".
"Oh, I just wanted to ask if Tara made her way to you," I say.
"Oh, yeah. She JUST threatened to fight me," Karina says with annoyed eyebrows.
"I'm so sorry about that. She can be..really jealous sometimes".
"It's okay, let's just hope she calms down a bit," Karina says giggling slightly.
I awkwardly stand there as she waits to see if I have something to say, "I'll see you later,".
"Okay, bye, Jake!" Karina says slightly embarrassed.

I walk down to the gym to find Colby, Sam, and Johnnie in there Colby and Sam are playing basketball and Johnnie is sitting on the benches with his girlfriend, Tori.
Sam sees me and passes the ball to Colby, "Wow, Tara went all out this morning".
"Yeah, she's psycho, dude," Colby says as he tries to shoot the hoop but misses.
"I don't know, I'm just gonna try to forget what happened and I'll talk more to her later".
Johnnie sits there kissing Tori and eventually pulls away still near her, "Wait what did you say? I didn't hear".
"Yeah obviously, 'cause you're tonguing Tori," I say jokingly.
"...So?" Johnnie says as he goes back to kissing her and ignoring everyone.
I roll my eyes and smile as I sit on an open chair and check my phone, moving my hair out of my eye.
I look at Tara's story on Snap and see her and a heart with quotes over it. That could be for me, or it could just be a picture of her. I look at her other story on Instagram and see the same thing. That's kinda strange, but I don't know what it's about.
I then see that Karina put something on her Instagram story but I hesitate to see it. I can't keep liking her like this, it's not fair to Tara.
I look at her story quickly and it's just a picture of the sky from this morning. Pink mixed with the blue sky, it's beautiful.
"Yo, Jake," Colby shouts, "come play basketball with us".
"I don't want to right now Colby," I say looking back down at my phone, when suddenly I see a ball hit my feet.
"Just play come on!" he shouts.
"Fine, I'll play".

A couple of hours later

I get home from school and turn on my TV to watch "My 600lbs Life". It makes me confident in my body.
I decided to text Tara to see how she was doing. In under five seconds, she opens my message.
"Sher's busy rn man".
My smile fades as I think I can tell what's happening.
"Tara?" I reply.
"I said she's busy. Stop texting".
I feel my stomach drop as I check her location on Snapchat to see Brad's location at her house with her location turned off.
I freeze. She was confronting me saying I cheated and was being disloyal when she was doing THIS to me. What a fucking hypocrite.
I drop my phone onto my floor and sit on my bed frozen for a couple of minutes. I don't know what I'm gonna do next.

The next day

I wake up with light circles under my eyes. I don't think I slept a lot. I don't have the strength to change so I just put a sweatshirt over my shirt and start to walk to school.
I'm waiting to see Brad there, I'm gonna fucking kill him. He's been fucking my girlfriend pretending to be my friend. I'm gonna send him to the fucking hospital.

I get to school and try to find Brad. Colby and Johnnie see me first and can tell something is wrong.
"Woah, what's up with you?".
I don't answer them. I walk right by past them as I see Brad at the other end of the hallway. I start to run.
"BRAD," I say running at him.
I jump at him and start punching him in the face. We start wailing at each other as people huddle up close to us either recording or just watching.
"YOU SICK FUCK".
I punch him until his nose bleeds and he gives me a black eye. Eventually, a teacher pulls me off of him and pulls Brad away.
"I can't believe you. You've been FUCKING TARA. PRETENDING TO BE MY FRIEND".
"It's not like she loved you anyways," Brad says panting, "she was friends with you for some of your money and to get to me. She NEVER liked you. She was with me".
The teacher accidentally loses her grip on me and I lunge at his face-punching him back and forth. Everybody starts shouting as they record.
I see Tara in the back of Brad, her hand covering her mouth as I'm on him pushing his face down. Seeing her makes me get up and the teacher gets a hold of me again.
"How fucking dare you cheat on me. You were worried I was cheating on you with Karina but you were FUCKING Brad this whole time. You said you didn't want to have sex, you FUCKING LIAR".
"Brad. You weren't supposed to text him. How the fuck did you get into my phone??!" she says trying to ask him.
"You know what, Jake? It already happened. I don't need you. I've had Brad for a year now and he's better. At least I don't like that slut that you got a boner from!".
Everybody gasps as some still record. Kenzie hears this and steps in and punches Tara straight in the face, causing her to fall and cry as her lip bleeds. After that second, Kenzie disappears into the crowd.
A teacher takes Tara, Brad, and Jake to the nurse's office but in separate rooms far away from each floor as everybody stops recording and posts videos about the fight.
