In this example, I've introduced a simple scale shape, commonly recognized as Do Re Mi Fa So La Ti Do. ( it's Latin name is Ionian I've attached all Latin names on the picture below next to there corresponding numbers) For simplicity, we'll refer to the scales as numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7. Just as there are seven notes, there are also seven scales in music they are called modes (though there are more advanced scales we'll explore them later). The numbers on the scale in the picture correspond to the 7 scales. Starting on 1, progress through the scale until you reach the next 1 on the picture, and the same principle applies to the other degrees. I've included a guitar fretboard with all the notes on the top E string, allowing you to move this scale shape anywhere on the fretboard to match the key of your song and play the seven scales in that song. Practice this shape as we delve into the concept of keys shortly. Also try all 7 this is very basic and there are thousands of other variations but this should unlock the concept then you can adapt other shapes you prefer I'll attach later some of my favourite shapes

Notes
I've added in the picture bottom right the order of brightness to darkness of the scales

In saying that I find that this concept of scale sounding darker and brighter and Egyptian etc only really works with single notes (drone tones) played in the background as soon as chords are played like any normal song does I find this concept does not really work but when we explore more advances scales you will def hear the exoticness but still practice this but don't get to hung up on it just make sure you understand the concept
