🌙 CHAPTER 1 🌙

9 YEARS LATER

There is mountain, a mountain so tall the tip of it touches the moon. This is Moon Point Moutain.

It looms over the Town of Howlington, a human settlement that's been there for centuries.

And bordering the edge of Moon Point is settlement called RiverMoon. On the outside it looked like an average summer camp near the mountains. But the campers are anything but average.

We are werewolfs.

But we're a little different from what you expect a werewolf to be. Yes we do transform from human to wolf but the way it's done is what's different. To transform from man to wolf we need our enchanted wolf pelts. We got the blessed pelts from the Moon Goddess herself. Delivered to us by her discepel Serria, a Moon Witch.

Everyone here has a wolf pelt worn in some fashionable way. Young women have their pelts resting on their arms elegantly while some boys have their slung over them like sashes. The most common way one will wear a pelt is tying it up around both shoulders. And children, who are to young to wear the pelts properly, hold onto them like oversized stuffed animals.

If we were ever to sperated from our pelts we would loose the ability to transform into our wolf body.

It wasn't always like this. Legend says the Moon Goddess did it for own protection when we where being hunted into extinction.
Separating our wolf spirt from our bodies and transforming the spirit into pelt allowed us to blend in with human society alot easier.

For example- back then it wouldn't be uncommon for someone to have a skin animal pelt hanging around. They could say they were out hunting, and skinned a trophy.

Of course if we ever lost our pelts we would be totally defenseless. That was the only downside.

But since we no longer live in the days of fancy horse drawn carriages if we ever wanted to visit the neighboring human settlement Howlington we'd have to leave our pelts behind to blend better.

Of course I have never had reason to go to Howlington. Anyone that does go usually has some kind of business, whether it being hanging out with some friends to go see a movie. Or RiverMoon's Chieftain ordering supplies for the tribe such as medicalsupplies or food. As far as the townspeople of Howlington are aware, RiverMoon is a exclusive summer camp by the mountains for rich kids.

As I said earlier, RiverMoon presents itself as average summer camp by the mountains.

If I was to give a normal person a tour of RiverMoon the first thing they would see is the log cabins littering the place, these would where us 'campers' sleep at.

The cabins are big and split into two half's, a left and right half with a wall separating them from the inside, making it big enough to house two families.

Each side has the same number of rooms. Two bedrooms for the parents and children, one small closet sized bathroom -(and yes it is annoying to deal with when you wake up in the middle night half asleep and bump your hip into the low hanging sink)- a big old spacious living room with basic furniture such as a couch and chair facing a fireplace with a couple table ends and coffee table. A small counter isle kitchen with a necessities like a mini fridge, toaster oven, and stove top with one lonely pot.
And finally a pathetic looking bookshelf stuck somwhere in a corner next to a coat rack.

Then after the cabins we have a large brick building that is the main area building. This is the most important building in all of RiverMoon and has many rooms with many uses.

It serves as our cafeteria, the place we all eat our breakfast, lunch and dinner. It's huge and has lots of tables and chairs. With a second floor area that separates the adults from the children.

There's a conference room for the important meetings being discussed by the Chieftain and other important people in the tribe such as training instructors, medics, border patrolers, and nursery caregivers.

There's a nursery for young toddlers around the age 1-5 years to stay at. This is where our younglings spend their early years until they've mastered control over their wolf pelts. The main building is also a good stronghold if anyone dangerous enters the camp all the children will be safe.

There's a medical room on one of the top floors of the building, but not alot of people get hurt or sick in RiverMoon so it's barely used and only has one doctor who gives lectures on how to treat broken bones or what herbs are best for disinfecting a open wound.

And a storage facility in the basement. Any supplies that RiverMoon needs to get by is all down there. Medical supplies, food, water, blankets, anything.

Finally the outline borders on the east and west side.

On the west side of the borders you'll find the training areas. There's a bunch of obstacles courses and large open area where we'll do combat against one another, both in human and wolf forms.

On the east side is a path up Moon Point Moutain. A large portion of the lower mountain area belongs to RiverMoon while the upper portion belongs to some not so neighborly neighbors, Cresent Break...

They're tough, but few in numbers. Cresent Break and RiverMoon have been rivals since before I was born! That's all I really know about them....

And that's RiverMoon.
It's small yes, but it's home. I suppose. If I'm being completely honest I wouldn't mind calling someplace elsewhere home. I'm weak... I'm small... I'm nothing... everybody knows it. I should leave. But where would I go? What would I do?

My name is Luke, Luke Brighton.
I feel like a outsider at RiverMoon. The runt of the litter. The boy that doesn't excel at anything....

And I've lived a miserable life here for 15 years of my life.
