His older self navigated to a contact, pressed “CALL”, and raised the phone to his ear. Yagi Toshinori must have picked up his phone a lot faster than the detective, because his older self kind of yelped and then started talking really fast.
“TOSHINORI—I mean Yagi-san! Uh, I mean, um, listen sorry I can’t explain how I got your number because I know itisatopsecretnumberthatnobodyissupposedtohave but I PROMISE I have it for a good reason! Anyway I need you to meet me at UA please very soon the train moves fast please meet me in ten minutes? I called Tsukauchi-san first he has more details please talk to him before you decide to kill me thank you.”
And then he hung up.
Older Kacchan was looking at Older Izuku with raised eyebrows, an expression on his face that seemed to explain both his bewilderment and his amusement with the situation.
“That was the best you could do, huh, nerd?” he asked (in a way which was very mild for Kacchan. Izuku was still trying to figure out this strange Older Kacchan).
Older Izuku keened, burying his face in his hands. “It’s so weird! He doesn’t know me yet! He could have thought I was an enemy, or… or—I don’t even know! He could have thought anything! I just didn’t want to alarm him!”
“So you thought if you just talked fast enough that he, what, wouldn’t have time to be alarmed? You probably just freaked him out more,” Older Kacchan said.
“Oh, no, you think so?”
“No. Relax. I think he’ll call Tsukauchi and then we can all figure this fuckin’ mess out together when we meet at UA.”
“Oh. Thanks, Kacchan.”
“Also, you gave him the wrong meetup time. We won’t be there in ten minutes.”
“Well—I—Kacchan!” Older Izuku exclaimed, indignant. It drew a few more irritated glances (their group had been getting a lot of those), but his older self didn’t even seem to notice.
His older self was almost as much of an enigma as the older Kacchan was. He didn’t seem to notice the looks, he was a hero (!!!), and he was filthy. Though, from what Izuku had noticed from the conversations their older selves had, they had battled some kind of villain that had sent them to the past, so Izuku supposed the fact that they were both covered in dirt could be explained by that. It didn’t seem to help the opinions of the other commuters, though.
A few minutes passed in tense silence; the train stopped, let some passengers off and other passengers on, and then took off again.
“What will we say when we get there? What will we tell Principal Nedzu and Tsukauchi-san and Toshinori?” Older Izuku asked, speaking in a low tone.
“The truth,” Older Kacchan replied, voice just as quiet. “What else?”
“How much of the truth?”
“Only as much as they need to know.”
“Should we… should we call sensei as well?”
“Fuck no. Who knows what he’s doing right now—you want to chance interrupting some fuckin’ undercover shit? We’ll ask Nedzu about him, is that okay?”
“Yeah. That’s okay.”
“Who the fuck is your sensei?” Kacchan demanded.
“Your sensei, if nothing gets too fucked up,” Older Kacchan snapped back.
“Calm down, both of you,” Older Izuku ordered. “Kacchan, they’re not even enrolled at UA yet. Give it a rest.”
Older Kacchan huffed. It was seriously starting to weird Izuku out, how non-aggressive he was.
