Prompt: Aunty Nat!
"Uncle Steve, do you like Aunty Nat?" The four year old girl asked.
Steve stared at her in shock, Lila Barton was one hell of a curious child. They were having a deep and long conversation that started with the girl shyly asked "Do you like my drawing?" and with that question, their conversation started for almost 2 hours.
Steve felt comfortable talking to the girl and she must have also felt the same because from calling him 'Captain America' to 'Uncle Steve' it felt like progress and he also like it, she was the first person to call her that and it was a big priviledge.
But now, she asked him a rather personal yet innocent question, it felt like hours for him to think of an answer. He didn't know what are his feelings towards Natasha Romanoff.
"Yeah, I like her" he answered "I mean who doesn't like her? You like your Aunty Nat right?"
The little girl nodded "Especially when she fixes my hair."
He smiled at that thought. The master assassin, braiding a little girl's hair.
But the girl was still curious "Do you love Aunty Nat?"
Her previous question was shocking, but this one held him back. Yeah sure he likes her, and there are many things he likes about her, her attitude, her looks, how she treats him, how she reminds him of Peggy and there are so much more things about her that admires him.
Yet he's quite unsure of what to answer, love is a very strong word and Natasha believes that "love is for children". But it's not clear for him anymore, she's constantly flirting with Bruce (and he even talked to him about it and giving it a go). For Steve, she was a mystery, an unsloved puzzle and he's trying to put pieces together one by one. And he loves mysteries.
"Can you keep a secret?" He asked and Lila smiled and nodded enthusiastically.
He smiled at the girl "I do love her."
She squealed and hugged him and whispered to his ear "I like the two of you together" that may or may not have caused his smile to grew wider.
As she pulled out of the hug, Steve spoke up "Can I ask you a question?"
"Yes" she anwered.
"Why do you want your Auntie Nat and I be together?" Steve asked with a small smile
The girl gave him a cheeky smile and simply answered "Because she told me you make her happy."
"She told you?" He curiously asked.
She nodded "Yes! She told me you were a much better partner than daddy and she's really really happy when she's with you!"
Steve grinned "Is that so?" and Lila nodded "But I don't think your Aunty Nat and I will get together."
She gave a small frown "Why?"
"She likes someone else" he answered truthfully.
"So you should tell her that you love her before it's too late" she said.
Steve chuckled "Are you sure you're four?"
Clint walked into the room "Okay guys, princesses need their beauty sleep."
Lila pouted "But I'm talking to Uncle Steve, Daddy."
Clint smiled "And Uncle Steve needs to sleep too, go say good night."
Lila turned to Steve and hugged him again and whispered "Good Night Uncle Steve, your secret's safe with me."
He smiled "Sweet Dreams little flower."
Lila skipped towards her father and he picked her up "Lemme tuck my princess to bed." and he turned towards Steve "Night Cap."
Steve nodded "Night Clint."
Clint walked towards Lila's room while Steve began to clean up, he stopped when he heard a woman's voice "She's right, you should tell me."
Steve slightly winced "How much did you hear?"
"The interesting part" she answered and walked towards him while he was still not facing her.
"Steve" she started "Is it true?"
Steve turned around to face the woman with fiery red hair, pale skin, delicate features and emerald orbs looking right through his blue ones. Her expression was soft and somewhat vulnerable, almost the same expresion while they stayed at Sam's during the HYDRA catastrophe.
"Natasha" he began with a whisper "You know that I'm always honest."
Natasha didn't think for a second before she brought her lips to his. Steve was shocked at first but gladly returned the kiss. They didn't care about Ultron, Bruce or why they are making out in Clint's living room because they only care about eachother, how two lost souls finding eachother and being together.
"'Bout damn time" Clint muttered and smirked to himself as he caught the view of his bestfriend and their leader in an intense make out session as if they were going to die tomorrow (well there is a possibility) "Better tell Laura to pay me up" the archer chuckled and continued to walk towards his bedroom not trying to get noticed by the spy and the soldier.
