"Yeah, okay. See you soon." I hung up the call with Isabella before I resumed searching for my special device.

Fuck, where did I put it?

It had been a few days since my last encounter with Diego in the bathroom, and I wasn't going to lie; I did miss him a little.

He had to go somewhere after the call and, thankfully, never questioned me about my name again.

But I had been careful in every way to not meet or talk to him alone; the only time I saw him was with other members of the mafia. It was safer that way.

Isabella and I had gotten a bit closer in the past few days, and my next mission was tonight. Rohit also seemed like a kind person overall, although he didn't talk much.

However, I think something happened between him and Isabella in the past, since every single time I talked to Isabella about him, she tensed up.

I gave up on finding my device and picked up my car keys; otherwise, I was going to be late for the conference room meeting right now.

The engine roared to life as I turned the key, sending a thrilling shiver through the car. The familiar hum of the vehicle filled the air, and I could feel the power waiting at my command. With a quick shift into gear, I was ready to hit the open road.

I soon reached the warehouse, which loomed in the darkness—a fortress of secrecy—and whispered deals.

Inside, shadows danced across stacks of crates and barrels, concealing the illicit goods hidden within. The air crackled with electric tension as hushed voices echoed off the cold concrete walls. This was the heart of the mafia's operations, a place where power and danger intertwined in the flickering light.

To an ordinary person, this was an old and abandoned place, but only certain people knew the reality.

I met up with Isabella inside, joining her at the large round table. I was still early, as we still had a few minutes. Today's mission was going to involve more than a single person, hence the specific meeting.

"Hey, you okay?" Isabella asked when she noticed that I had zoned out.

"Yeah, sorry. I was just a little lost in my thoughts." I told her with a reassuring smile.

A few more people entered the room, and everyone took their seats while waiting for Diego to come.

Isabella and I chatted for a while before everybody silenced and got up, which could only mean one thing. Diego was here.
