Song- 3:15 (Breathe) by Russ

A few days ago...

The world is cursed, and that's the universal truth, which is obvious these days.

Sometimes, you just have to take justice into your own hands, and this was definitely one of those times. This guy had not only stolen multiple shipments from my mafia but had even raped and killed three other women without anyone noticing.

This piece of shit was finally getting what he deserved, even though he was unfortunately very good at hiding the evidence from a court of law.

I placed the freshly bloodied knife on the steel table and nodded towards Marcos.

"Keep him alive for as long as you can. Don't let him lose consciousness; the fucker needs to pay for what he has done." I ordered before leaving the basement in quick, long strides.

Now back to the other problem, where the fuck is Emma!?

She's very good at hiding; I'll give her that. The only place where I've been able to track her is her apartment, and even that took a few days.

But I guess that's to be expected from a trained assassin. It's fucking reckless for me to care so much about a single person.

At the same time, knowing this fact, I can't seem to keep my mind off of her.

She is returning tomorrow, and so is another person from my past. A person who once meant the world to me but yet turned out to be a life lesson instead.

"Get the car, now." I hung up and left the house, striding towards the car.

"Renwick Street, across the bar where I go." The driver nodded his head and pulled out of the driveway and onto the bright streets of New York.

Life has its very own way of surprising us day by day. And so, what I didn't realize was that a single wrong turn could change my whole life.

*crash*

*police sirens*

*people screaming*

My eyesight was blurry, and I could hardly make out the multiple figures around me, let alone see the red and blue sirens.

But from the corner of my eye I saw a man walking away discreetly, and just before he turned around the corner, he looked back and gave me a playful smirk and a chance to get a look at him.

This was no fucking accident. A fucking hit. That's what this was.

That was the last thought on my mind before I slipped into unconsciousness.
