Sophie walked Keefe to Calla's Panakes tree, and slowly tiptoed inside to Havenfield, hoping, praying, that Grady and Sandor wouldn't be there. But of course, they were. A light switched on, immediately reminding her of those detective stories that her human sister was absolutely obsessed with. Even Edaline was. Edaline and Grady were.. well, gorgeous, like every other elf. Edaline's flowy, orange, thick hair went down to her elbows, and her eyes looked like a glossy sapphire, as if she had been crying. Grady and Edaline both had bags under their eyes, and Sandor looked hard, has his usual goblin-y self.
"WHERE hAVE yOU bEEN?" Sandor exclaimed in his signature squeaky voice
"And with That Boy, too? Don't think we didn't notice you and That Boy were gone." Grady said somewhat sternly
Edaline sniffled "We were worried sick. You even forgot your imparter!" Edaline said, as she passed back the imparter
"I.. well, it's a long story." Sophie said. As she begun to tell about her short- lived adventure, Sandor would irregularly have fits of "how it could have been much better if he were there".
"How long was I gone?" Sophie asked
"Almost a day." Grady replied
"It's okay. It was for a good, and sensible cause. You need some rest, after that eventful day too!" Edaline said "Let's get you to bed. How does cinnacreme sound?"
"That sounds great!" Sophie could feel her insides melt inside of her. Cinnacreme sounded really great right now.
Sandor and Grady were having a private conversation in the midst. "How about you and I go.. converse with Keefe?" Grady whispered
Sophie was baffled. Grady never called Keefe by his name after he sort of, kind of, betrayed them for the Neverseen. But Sophie knew it was only with the intentions of keeping everyone safe.
"Yes, but who will watch over young Miss Foster? Oh yes, I will ask Flori. You go, I will join you." Sandor replied, in a high pitched whisper
Grady told Edaline that he was about to go check on Keefe and that she should put Sophie to bed. With a quick hug and goodnight, he was off.
Edaline walked Sophie to her room, cinnacreme in hand, and tucked Sophie in bed before handing Sophie her mug.
Edaline took one glance at that stuffed elf that Keefe got her from the Forbidden Cities and smirked to herself.
"So... did you admit it?" Edaline asked, intrigued
Sophie took a sip out of her mug. "Ask what?"
"Keefe about you-know-what?" Edaline said, smirking
Sophie felt like spitting the cinnacreme out everywhere. She hadn't thought about telling Edaline about that yet. Should she? Of course she should. That was outside the picture. The only problem was how? It would be super embarrassing!
"Umm.. yes?" Sophie replied
"And what was the reaction?" Edaline pushed
"okwellsokeefeactuallylikedmelongerthanididactuallysincethetimeIruinedmymentor'scapeandhemightormighthavenotkissedmeandyeah" Sophie said really fast
Edaline laughed. "I did catch that he liked you since the beginning and that he tried to hide that. I won't push anything else out of you. I really really want to, but I won't! Not yet. And I deserve a bunch of mom points for that! But I do want you to get a good night's sleep." She kissed Sophie on her forehead, took the mug and put it on the bedside table, and bid her goodnight.
I know, I'm evil, right? Catch how I didn't put in Grady and Keefe's little conversation? Well, I have good news. If I make it to my goal of 120 reads, I will add that part to this chapter. And I'm sorry that this chapter is so short! I'm trying to have my chapters as short, but detailed as I can go! Comments on how it is so far? Also, who wants a special part where Keefe and Fitz talk about Team Foster-Keefe's new era? Have an amazing day! :>
