MARIA AL GHUL

I'D ONLY BEEN THERE A MONTH before problems began to start up for the group, thankfully they weren't the kind that followed me. My time at the Titans tower had been less than eventful, but it was definitely testing of my person. Gar and Rachel both respected me, and conversed with me regularly outside of training. Jason on the other hand was still snippy and hard to manage, he still made an abundance of comments I had yet to decipher and I wasn't a fan.

I wore a large t-shirt and baggy jogging pants as I conducted a spare between Jason and Gar. The idea was for Jason to fight Gar without being able to see.

"Jason, keep your stance loose you want to  be able to follow Gar's movement." I critiqued his tight posture.

"Yeah yeah got it," I could feel his eye roll from behind the mask as he began to speak to Gar, "don't hold back." He paused, Gar tilted his head but that wasn't quite helpful when his opponent couldn't see. "did you just nod?"

"Uh yeah..." Gar didn't seem to be mentally in the fight, which I could already tell would end badly.

I stood to the side before yelling for them to start, "fight!"

For a minute the two seemed to dance around the practice swords, they were doing well, the momentum they kept was paced and Jason was blocking the hits well, even landing some of his own. Unfortunately Jason made a miss calculation, and sent a well executed hit into thin air, Gar simply hit him in the back of the head to signal he had won.

"Hey! Fuck man!" Jason whined.

"You said don't hold back," Gar complained, he was only doing as instructed.

"I was fucking blindfolded!"

"You said, 'don't hold back,'" this time he said it with an odd adjustment in his voice to mock the boy wonder.

I step between them before Jason can yell anymore, "that's enough."

Rachel and Dick seemed to get back from wherever they'd been at that moment and walked in. Neither of them was impressed by the scene in front of them. Rachel even laughed, "do I need to get a hose?"

"What's going on?" Dick asked me, but of course Jason answered instead.

"We were doing the stupid blindfold thing and he went nuts on me."

"you said don't hold back," Gar countered again.

"Why do we even have to do this anyway? It's idiotic, we have eyes." Jason was still complaining about the exercise, while to some extent I wasn't a fan of why Dick wanted me to teach them this it was a good skill to have.

"In battle anything can be taken from you," Dick smirked then pulled Jason's wrists forward, "your hands." Then took his sword to stab at the ground below Gar, "your feet." Lastly he swung the sword inches from Rachel's face, "and your eyes. In battle anything can be taken from you. You have to be able to keep fighting and win."

I frowned, "not unless you take them first."

I got a look that I seemed to get a lot whenever I suggested a more effective way of fighting, "we fight with honor, we don't take cheap shots."

This was always annoying to me, for some reason he believed fighting well was fighting without honor. I was taught about honor, and you gain it by winning for your people by any means necessary.

Dick sighed, "go get changed, attack scenarios in the tech room in five minutes. Then breakfast."

That was not an activity I was mandated to participate in, I was here to train them in the ring not play what if games, so I just went onto some of the equipment expecting everyone else to leave. I ran on the treadmill but quickly noticed that neither Dick or Jason was exiting the room.
