(Lucy's POV)

I wake up and my head is pounding. I look around, wondering where I am. A hospital, maybe? I look to my hand and see someone else's is occupying it. I snatch it away, looking at the person.

"Lucy," He breathes.

He rushes to the door and shouts down the hall. A doctor runs in, clipboard in hand. "Ah, Lucy, you're awake. How are you feeling?"

"Shit," I say.

"I'd imagine so. You had quiet an accident a while ago," He says.

"Accident?" I frown. What is he talking about? "Wait, who the hell is this? I want him out. I don't know this man," I say.

"Oh, uh, see Lucy, you're having some memory loss. You know, amnesia. This is Jason. You two have known each other for quite a while. You're saying you don't remember him?" He asks. I shake my head. "Alright. Jason, I'm going to have to ask you to leave, per her request," The doctor says.

Jason tries to fight him on it, but the look the doctor gives him has him out in seconds.

"What the hell happened to me, man?" I ask, exasperated. "And can I please get something for my fucking migraine," I say, rubbing my temple.

He passes me a cup with two pills in it. I take it with the water he passes me. "Lucy, I've been instructed to wait until-"

"I get here," Another man says.

"Well who the hell are you?" I ask, throwing my hands up.

He chuckles lightly. I look down at what he's wearing and see a badge on his belt loop. Shit. "I'm General Hotchner. Lucy, we need to talk about a few things, okay?" He comes over and occupies the chair that Jason guy was just in.

The doctor leaves, excusing himself. "Lucy, before your accident, you were kidnapped, raped, and tortured for several years," He says. My eyes go wide. "We caught the bastard, returned you home, and gave him the needle. Someone else came after you and kidnapped you again. You were there for quite a while, Lucy. We gave him some ransom money and he returned you to us. Before you could even cross the street, someone barreled you down with their car. You were taken to the hospital, of course, but you slipped into a coma. You've been in for about 4 months now. You woke up and you have amnesia. Please tell me if you're remembering any of this?" He asks. He sounds like he made it so I would understand him.

I frown at him, tears pricking at my eyes. "You're lying!" I shout. "You're just saying that. Prove it to me, prove it!" I scream.

He sighs, taking out his phone. He shows me a news broadcast. "Lucy McMillan, a young woman kidnapped about a year ago, has gone missing yet again," A woman says.

Another broadcast, "Breaking News; Lucy McMillan has officially been labelled kidnapped. A ransom demand came in just minutes ago. Now to General Hotchner with more news."

He stops it. Tears fall down my cheeks. "That really is me," I mumble.

"I'm sorry, Lucy. We're going to be doing a series of tests to see if we can help you regain your memory. Is that okay? Do you consent to that?" He asks. I nod.

Just then, two people throw themselves into the room. I cry as I recognize them. My grandparents come over and hug me, crying, too.

General Hotchner leaves and the doctor walks back in. "I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to ask you to leave while we perform some medical exams to understand more," The doctor says.

My grandparents reluctantly walk out. I watch them as they go.

By the time we finish the medical exams, the doctor seems to have a lot of information. "Well, it seems as though you're suffering from memory loss having to do with since you were maybe a young teenager up to recent events. What I don't understand, though, is how you don't remember Jason? He says he's known you since kindergarten?"

My mouth speaks before I can think about it, "Maybe it's because I don't want to remember him." What the hell was that all about?

The doctor frowns at me, but nods nonetheless. "Hotchner would like to begin testing if you're feeling up to it," He says.

I nod and stand, following him out of the room. We walk into a room with a table and two chairs across from each other. It has a mirror in it, too. It's like an interrogation room.

"Alright, Lucy, let's begin. I'm going to show you a few pictures of men. Tell me if you recognize anyone or if they remind you of something, anything, okay?" He asks slowly.

I nod in understanding. He lays out several mug shots of men. I start with the first one, going down the line as he lays them out. I stop him, "Wait." A small smile tugs at Hotchner's lips as I pick up the photo.

I examine the man's face and stare at the way his lips curve in a menacing smirk. "That smirk," I say. "Something about it is familiar," I say.

"Good, that's good. Do you recognize any of the other men or anything about them?" He asks. I look over them all, hoping to find something helpful.

I shake my head, "No, I'm sorry, I don't."

"No, that's good. That's a good start. You're doing really well, Lucy."

He sets out another series of photos. They're girls this time. I look at all of them and stop on one. "Her, she looks familiar, but her nose. It seems different, like it's supposed to look like that, but like something else, too." I sound crazy to myself until Hotchner pulls out another photo.

"Like this?" He looks like he's trying to force back his smile.

I take the photo, "Exactly like that. There were two of them. At the house, with the rest of the girls, there were two of them," I say. I have no idea where the thought came from, but I know now that I knew those twins.

"Very good, Lucy. You're doing great," Hotchner praises.

We continue to look at photos. I identify several other girls, somehow recognizing them, but not knowing who they are all at the same time.

"Alright, I think that's enough for today. Why don't you go back to your room and rest? I'll be back tomorrow and we can continue this, okay?" Hotchner says.

I nod, "Yeah, good idea."

General Hotchner leaves and I wobble back to my room. I plop down on the bed, a frown covering my face. I sit there for a good half hour, trying to remember something, even if it's a small detail.

I give up when my head starts to hurt. I lie down on my side, still frowning. My face seems used to this position as if I do nothing but frown all the time. Soon I'm drifting off, still thinking.
