Black swirls of liquid, like oil in water, swirled down towards the bottom, and then we were looking at a street with a familiar man walking down it, carrying an umbrella. Dumbledore. He walked through a gate and into a building, the sign read, 'Wool's Orphanage'. I cringed, I'd hate to be in one of those.

A woman lead us up some stairs. "I'm a bit confused, at receiving your letter Mr Dumbledore, in all the years Toms been here, he has never once had a family visitor." We were suddenly in a hallway, standing outside a door. "There have been incidences with the other children, nasty, nasty things."

She opened the door and put on a fake smile. "You have a visitor Tom."

She let Dumbledore walk through. "How do you do Tom?"

She nodded and then left. We looked upon a rather handsome young boy with the bluest eyes and brown styled hair. I smiled but then frowned. Riddle had looked like this?!

"Go!" He ordered. Then we were looking at his things, a diary, sea shells on the window sill and a photo graph of some cliffs. Then the scene changed and Dumbledore and Riddle were sitting down. "Your the doctor ain't you?"

What?! Where did that come from? "No, I'm a professor."

"I don't believe you." Riddles face just stayed plain and emotionless. *Shiver* "She wants me looked at. They think I'm different."

"Perhaps they're right."

"I'm not mad." Did his voice just rise a little?

"Hogwarts, isn't a place for mad people. Hogwarts is a school, a school of magic." There was a pause, where Tom took in this information, then Dumbledore continued. "You can do things can't you? Things, other children can't."

"I can make this move without touching them." Whoa?! "I can make animals do what I want without training them." Double whoa?! "I can make bad things happen to people who are mean to me, I can make them hurt. If I want. Who are you?" He sounded exasperated.

"Well I'm like you Tom. I'm different."

"Prove it."

Suddenly his wardrobe flew up into flames. There was a rattling sound from inside. "I think there's something inside your wardrobe wanting to get out Tom." Riddle walked over and opened the doors. Down the bottom was a rattling tin box. He took it out and closed the doors. Instantly the flames disappeared. Tom laid out the contents on his bed and looked sharply up at Dumbledore. "Thievery is not tolerated at Hogwarts Tom. At Hogwarts, you'll not only be taught how to use magic, but how to control it. Do you understand me?"

Toms face was back to expressionless and be just stared up at Dumbledore. Dumbledore just nodded goodbye and was halfway through the door when Tom spoke. "I can talk to snakes too. They find me, and whisper things. Is that normal for someone like me?"

Dumbledore turned around and then the memory ended. Harry and I stepped back from the pensive and looked at each other, before spinning around and looking at Dumbledore. "Did you know then sir?" Harry asked.

"Did I know that I had just met the most dangerous, darkest wizard of all time?" I nodded. "No. If I had, I'd ... Over time, while here at Hogwarts, Tom grew close to one teacher. Do you know who?"

I nodded. "Provessor Slughorn. You zidn't just go to all zhat trouble to get him back because he was a good teacher."

"Exactly. You see Professor Slughorn has something that I desire very dealt, but he will not give it to me easily." Dumbledore said.

"You said Slughorn will try to collect us. Do you want us to let him?" Harry asked.

"Yes." Dumbledore nodded, then disappeared in one of the back rooms, leaving me and Harry to see ourselves out.
