They quickly ate the things they packed as it was quiet between both of them. Novera couldn’t stop thinking about how this all came to happen. She thought back to the night before trying to remember anything that was strange when they got back but she couldn't remember anything.

“Forgive me, Lady Novera but what if this doesn't work?” Sir Engeram asked.

“It will work. How can you doubt me? You saw that you doubted me when it came to finding the fountain and we found it now you doubt me about if it will work?” she said as she looked at him.

“Forgive me it was just a question.” he said as he drank some of the beer he brought with him.

Novera looked at him as she then looked at the fountain and she took a deep breath and took out the retribution gem as she had her hand over the gem.

Sir Engeram eventually finished eating as they headed towards the fountain but at the base of the arm that was still attached to the cave.

Novera gently unwrapped Geralt as Sir engeram seemed a bit uneasy.

“Are you alright Sir Engeram?” she asked as she kept unwrapping Geralt. “I thought you were used to dead bodies.” she said as she saw blood stains on his boots but stayed calm.

“I am, I don't find it natural that you’re willing to do this to bring him back,” he said.

“Well of course I’m willing to do this, wouldn't you do it if it were someone you cared about?” she asked.

“I guess when you say it like that I would.” he said.

Novera finished unwrapping Geralt as she suddenly felt a blade at her neck.

“Forgive me, Lady Novera but I can’t let you bring him back.” Sir engeram said as he held the blade to her neck.

“Why are you afraid the rest of the camp will know you were the one that killed him?!”

“I..” he looked at her surprised. “Y..You knew?” he asked

“Of course I knew. I knew all along. You were the person that killed Geralt and betrayed him, betrayed the camp, and betrayed me. You’re a traitor!” she suddenly hit his arm down as he let go of his dagger and she punched him making him stumble back.

Sir Engeram gathered himself as he dodged her attacks. “I may be older than you but I am far smarter than you.”

“Sure you are.” Novera suddenly jumped over sir engram as she then grabbed him and threw him towards the fountain as he landed near it and she ran towards him and before he got the chance to get up and fight she stabbed him and took the blade out as he held his side as he began to bleed out.

“Why do you think I let you come with me? You were always jealous of the position that Geralt had. He was my right hand man and you thought you could replace him. You were wrong. I’d never trust you.” She said as Sir Engeram began to understand.

“So let me tell you a little something. The scroll stated, Time can not be revered. But a life can be spared at the fountain of life. The fountain is located high in the forbidden mountains. Once at the fountain place the one you have lost and restore their life. But life has a price. In order to bring the dead back to life you must sacrifice another in its place”

“You little…” Novera stabbed him again as she smirked. “And now sir Engeram no one will bring you back” she suddenly threw him over as he fell to his death and she went back to Geralt and she carried him towards the fountain. She stepped into the fountain and laid him in the water as she floated there as the retribution gem covered in blood dripped as a drop of Sir Engeram’s blood fell into the fountain as the water began to glow and she stepped back as she saw the six maidens above the fountain move as they all extended their hands and pointed at Geralt.

A bright light filled the fountain, the cave and the mountains. Novera blocked her eyes as the light was intense. After a few seconds the light dimmed and faded as the maidens went back to their original places.

Novera walked towards Geralt and she kneeled down and placed a hand on his cheek as she closed her eyes thinking it didn’t work.

A tear escaped as it dripped down her face and landed on his cheek.

Suddenly a voice broke the silence.

“Why are you crying?”

Novera looked up seeing Geralt was awake and he sat up. Novera smiled as she began to cry happy tears. “Geralt!” She hugs him and kisses him holding him close as Geralt wraps his arms around her.

After a passionate kiss they pulled away as Geralt looked around.

“What happened and where are we?” he asked.

“Well last night you were attacked and killed by Sir…”

“Engeram. Yeah he snuck in and attacked me while I had my back turned. But I fought back but guess that wasn’t enough and that bastard got me.” Geralt said.

“When they told me you were dead I didn’t believe I ran into your tent and I saw the blood on the carpets and then I saw your body on the floor and I lost it. Before the funeral a scroll came out and it was for the fountain of life.”

“So that’s how you brought me back. But what happened to Sir Engeram?” he asked.

“I brought him with me. He offered to join me in this journey and lucky for me I knew he did it before we left. And I used his life to bring you back.”

“Huh?”

“The Fountain of Life has a rule that in order to bring back a life you have to sacrifice another in its place,” Novera said, explaining it to Geralt.

“So, I take it he’s dead then?”

Novera nods as she sees him smile.

“Good though I wish I was the one that killed that bastard. He had been doing so many things behind your back.”

“Now Sir Carlton will be in charge of fixing all those things and running the camp while we’re gone”

“He is a trustworthy man”

“He really is now, come on, let's go back home.”

Geralt smiled as he got up with her help and they made their way back to their dragons and back to camp.
