"Princess you have a letter." Liddy voice echoes in Amora's room. The young princess lifts her head, standing from her desk, approaching the woman. "Who's it from?" Amora asks
She looks down at the letter, turning it in her hand. The seal was black, with three dragon heads. "Daemon." Amora whispers
Quickly she breaks the seal. Liddy takes it upon herself to give the princess some privacy, leaving the quarters.
My lovely niece,
It has been a while since I have written to you, a while since I've been graced with your presence and soon that will change. The purpose of this letter is to inform you of my correspondence with the Lord Corlys. The battle down in the Stepstones has become dire, in need of more dragon riders. I understand that the king would have my head for even suggesting I take a girl into battle, but I would much rather cut my throat than suggest taking one of the Hightowers. The cunts are irritating to no end.
Amora laughs to herself, her uncle was definitely dramatic.
So I suggested that we send for you. I'll train you here in Dragonstone. You already have the great Queen Visenyas beauty, why not her spirit? But if you need a moment to think about it, please do. To some, a war is better than marriage. I believe you have expressed it many times.
With love,
Your Uncle
Amora inhales deeply, her heart pounding harshly in her chest. It was a huge ask from her uncle. She never held a sword before, let alone fought in a war.
She doesn't know how she'll even leave the palace. Alicent has always dotted on her, keeping her close. The queen went as far as to move her to quarters closer to hers once Rhaenyra had left with her children.
....
Amora silently approached Alicents quarters, her skirts swaying along her hip, her footsteps barely there. She comes to a slow stop at the doors, Ser Criston Cole at the foot of it.
The knight barely acknowledges her, stepping to the side without ceremony. Amora was the exception, not a threat, so she didn't need to be announced to the Queen.
Amora pushes the doors open, the scent of honey and malvale hitting her nostrils like a comforting hug.
There was a soft hum from beside the large bed. Alicent sat alone, enjoying a piping tea. "Mother." Amora greets softly
Alicent lifts her gaze, her features softening significantly. "Darling, what brings you here?" Alicent asks
Amora carefully sits beside her surrogate mother. "I just wanted to spend a moment with you. The court seems colder and lonely. I love my cousins but they aren't you." Amora admits
Alicent softens significantly, bringing a hand up and gently caressing Amoras pale cheek. "You are too good, join me for some tea." Alicent asks, earning a smile from the princess, helping herself to a glass.
....
Amora knew the consequences of her leave, cementing the broken bond building between her and Aemond. Losing family ties with Alicent and possibly angering the king.
But Daemon promised her freedom, something she thought she would have here. She didn't want to end up like her mother or the fallen Queen Aemma. She didn't want to ever succumb to her madness.
