Tw: talk about Childabuse and pain

September 1st.
"Hello, this is Dr. Carina Deluca, i'd like to report Child abuse." "Good evening Dr. Deluca. My name is Floria Duncan, what seems to be the issue?" "My wife and i are hosting a student for a program this semester and she came to us with injurys inflicted on her before she left." "So you or your wife hurt her?" "No. She was hurt at home and then came to stay with us during the program. She said it was her stepfather." "Alright i'll send a social worker. Your Name again and where she can find you tomorrow." "Dr. Carina Deluca, Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital." "Alright alright. Good bye." "Bye."

Carina spent the night at Kathys bed, since Maya had to go back to work. In the morning she came with breakfast for the two. The night had been rough and Kathy was plagued with nighmares and boughts of pain. Carina did her bast to keep her comfortable and calm her.
"Its okay Bambina, its just Maya." Kathy had flinched away from the door when they had heard a knock. Maya came in and sat down next to them. Kathy had tears run down her cheaks, but tryed to smile at the blonde firefighter. "I brough breakfast. Smoothies and sandwiches." "Would you want some?" Carina asked. Kathy bit her lips. "My stomach still hurts." "I know, but its not the stomach that hurts its your liver. You can try a little bid of the smoothie." Kathy took the red smoothie out of Mayas hand and took a little sip. "Its good." She said and Carina smiled.

Around 9 the social worker came and since she had already read Jos protocol, she already knew what had happend. She talked to both Maya and Carina alone and they made it very clear that they'd like Kathy to stay with them, atleast for the duration of the program. However the social worker had bad news for them.

"I'm very sorry. But Kathy can not stay with you. As soon as she is save to travel. She will be placed in a fosterhome in Texas." "Why? I mean she would have stayed with us if we didn't report it?" Maya said. "Yes. Its is really simple. Katharinas parents handed over guardianship to you for the duration of the program. But since Katharinas parents no longer hold the legal rights, Katharina is in the care of the state of Texas and therefor needs to be placed with a family there. That is because of funding and similar." "That is stupid. Kathy has a spot in this awesome program, can't like the state of texas just sign the guardianship over again." "They can. It takes aproximatly 4 weeks to process those papers." The social worker said and the sighed. "Well Kathy can not travel yet." Carina said. "And i will let her stay with you until she can, since you are a doctor and you are a paramedic." Carina nodded. "Thank you. Can you get the paperwork started that they give us the guardianship again?" "Yes, doctor i can." "Thank you." Then she left.

"I don't want to leave you. I.... I... What if... They.. what if they.. h.. hurt me?" Kathys voice was small and sobs wrecked her body. "we don't want you to leave either, but we can't help the law. But trust me we have good contacts to the Cathrine Fox Foundation, we will get you back as soon as we can." Maya said. Carina nodded and Kathy currled up into Carinas embrace. The italian had come to sit on Kathys bed since Kathy didn't let go of her after a particularly hard panikattack.

Three days later Kathy was discharged from the hospital. But Jo still deemed her unsave to fly so Maya and Carina took her home.

Carina sat on the comfortable sofa in their living room, flanked by soft blanket. The television remote lay on the coffee table, a subtle invitation for a cozy evening together with their hostkid.
The genuine smile on her face, though, hinted at the resilience that defined her spirit. Maya came home from work and sat down on the couch with them.

"Hey, Kathy," Maya greeted warmly. Carina made room on the couch. "How are you feeling?"

Kathy gingerly settled onto the couch, a mix of relief and exhaustion evident in her eyes. "Tired, but better now that I'm home. Hospital beds are no fun."

Carina offered a comforting smile, "Well, you're in for a treat tonight. We've got a few options – we can watch TV, play games, or just relax. What are you in the mood for?"

Kathy's eyes brightened, "Can we start with some TV and cuddles? I missed it so much when you were at work today." She smiled sheepishly.

Maya grabbed the remote, and the room filled with the gentle hum of the television. They settled into a comfortable routine of flipping through channels, eventually finding a feel-good movie that promised a light-hearted escape. Together, they laughed, shared commentary, and basked in the simplicity of the moment.

After the movie, Carina suggested, "How about some games? We've got board games, cards, and even video games if you're up for it."

Kathy's face lit up at the mention of games. "I'm definitely up for it! What do you guys like to play?"

Maya grinned, "We're up for anything. What's your favorite game?"

And so, the evening unfolded with laughter and friendly competition. The trio engaged in a variety of games, from classic board games to more modern video games. The atmosphere still dinged with the impending departure.

As the night progressed, Kathy, feeling a mix of fatigue and contentment, leaned against Maya and Carina. The trio huddled together, forming a makeshift family bond. Maya wrapped an arm around Kathy, while Carina draped a cozy blanket over them, creating a cocoon of warmth and safety. "I don't wanna leave." Kathys lip quivered. Carina and Maya hold her close.

In those quiet moments, Maya spoke softly, "Kathy, we're so glad you're here with us. You're strong, and we're here to support you, okay? I am sorry you have to leave, but we will get you back."

Carina echoed the sentiment, "You're not alone anymore, Kathy. We're a team, and we'll face whatever comes our way together." "I haven't felt so save since my dad died. I don't know... I..." Crying was something happening often. Sadly Maya and Carina couldn't help her, they could only hold her and promise her she is save right now.

The room fell into a silence, punctuated by the rhythmic sounds of their breaths and the muted glow of the TV. Kathy's eyes drooped as she found solace in the presence of her newfound family. Maya and Carina exchanged a glance that spoke volumes, acknowledging the significance of this shared moment – a testament to resilience, love, and the healing power of togetherness.
