CHAPTER XVI

LAIRE'S POINT OF VIEW

It's been 20 fucking minutes.

The guards' suspicious gazes towards me were getting intense every minute that passes by. Hindi na 'ko magugulat kung maya-maya ay bigla na lang nila akong kuyogin. I gulped in that thought.

Mabuti na lamang at wala masyadong doctors at scientists na nagpapaligoy-ligoy nang ganitong oras dito. 

As I roamed my eyes, I can see several doors leading to rooms that I'm sure I will be restricted if I'll go inside. I couldn't see any resources that were used when doing an actual scientific trial. If I'm not wrong, this is one of the public corridors of the laboratory.

Napayuko na lamang ako nang mayroong isang scientist papunta sa daang ito. I took quiet deep breaths as she gave her ID to the guards, letting them inspect it. As she waited for it, her eyes landed on me. 

Napatingin ako sa document na hawak ko saka ito tiningnan na para bang mayroong hinahanap. I tried acted like I was browsing it. As I stared back awkwardly at the lady, she raised her eyebrows at me. Napahinga ako ng malalim nang pumasok siya sa loob nang walang problema. Ngunit maya-maya lamang ay natigilan ako.

Oh, shit. Jacques is doing his task inside. That's a problem.

The gadgets that The Revolution gave me isn't that many but had helpful features. The night that they explained it one by one is still fresh inside my memory. Obviously.

The contact lens I was currently wearing has a nano-circuitry that interfaces with ocular sensors. Hinahayaan nito na magkaroon ng interference sa pattern ng security kung kaya't kapag inii-scan ang mga mata ko ay para na rin nitong dini-deceive ang scanning algorithm. 

The ID that was also scanned earlier has the same technology laced with it. It basically allows the gadget to manipulate the scanner into thinking that the identity written on my card is in the system. 

Also, you already know the black suit that I am using to fool the cameras around. Probably the most significant and useful thing that I had right now, is the watch.

"Help!" The shout from the general area of the main laboratory echoed in the corridors and was later on followed by a loud bang.

The guards were in panic for a while after hearing those. Pati ako ay nagulat. I looked back and saw another scientist running towards here. "Help! Someone broke in!"

The scientist was a mess to begin with. She was basically pleading and later on ran away. Possibly consumed by agitation, three of the two guards immediately followed the woman who was just pleading for help earlier. 

Napabuntong hininga ako saka napatingin sa nag-iisang taong nagpo-protekta sa silid na ito. I stopped pressing a button in my watch, indicating that the holograph and lifelike illusion made by it was also finished.

I tightly gripped on the document I was holding as soon as I saw the guard pointed their gun at me. Their stare is intense. Fuck, I'm doomed. Napalunok ako. Am I caught?

Akmang may pipindutin na sana ako sa relo when another loud noise echoed on the corridor. My eyes widened and my breaths were heavier.

"What the fuck are you doing?!" I exclaimed when I saw how this idiot hit the guard's head using a beaker. I looked around and saw several cameras pointing at us. Napalunok ako saka muling napatingin kay Jacques.

"Uh..." He didn't have any words to answer but nonetheless, he looked back and started dragging me outside the main laboratory. He seems anxious.

Sino ba naman kasing hindi?! He suddenly hit that guard without being careful. May mga cameras sa paligid. We're from the main laboratory after all. Our goal is to do the mission without being suspicious.
