Chapter Eleven: Word Travels Fast at Hogwarts
"My name is Olly, nice to meet you, can I tell you baby 'Look around there's a lot of pretty ladies, but none like you, you shine so bright.'" – Olly Murs: Dance with Me Tonight
So after discussing with Remus that we were basically living in a novel, we talked until the clock chimed seven am, meaning breakfast was now open. As the clock rang seven times, once for each hour that had passed, Remus and I looked at each other.
So, do you want to go get br-"Remus started, and I cut him off, grabbing his arm and pulling him out of the common room.
"Gods yes!" I responded laughing as we finally made it into the corridor, having to walk now so we wouldn't get detention from a passing teacher- or worse- Filch. I shuddered at the thought. Well, I meant to do so internally; however, Remus' confused expression told me that I hadn't.
"Just thinking of detention with Filch." I responded causing Remus to laugh as we walked down the moving staircases, eventually making it to the first floor, as the moving stairs might as well have been a maze.
The Great Hall had few students currently enjoying their breakfasts. This is completely understandable, as I'm usually one of the students who run in when there are five minutes left of breakfast. No one likes getting up early, alright?
Remus and I seated ourselves across from each other at the end of the Gryffindor table, also known as where the marauders normally sit. I served myself some oatmeal, adding a mountain of brown sugar, fruit, and poured myself a cup of coffee. That had three sugars and three milks. Sue me.
Anyways, just as we had started talking about Remus's favourite muggle books, Emmaline, a Ravenclaw who I met almost three days ago in class as I asked to borrow one of her notes, ran up to Remus and I, her white blonde hair flying behind her in messy curls.
"Belle," she started, breathing heavily, and clutching her books to her chest as she bent over slightly, "Did you sleep with Remus while Lilly was dating him?" My eyes went wide in surprise.
"What? No! Of course not! I mean," I started, stopping slightly when I looked at Remus, who looked like he might've taken a bit of offense to how I reacted to the question, "I would never sleep with anyone while they're dating someone! And at this point in time, Remus is more like a brother to me rather than anything else." I finished explaining, and both Emmaline and Remus relaxed. Emmaline moved my bag onto the floor and sat beside me on the bench, before pulling up her wild hair into a messy ponytail.
"Well, Lilly and Athena are saying that you did. Lilly is saying that's why she and Remus broke up, and I quote 'I couldn't stand to stay with someone who cheated on me with someone like her. He begged me not to go, but after he'd been with that skank...' Anyways, she's telling anyone who'll listen. It's not very flattering on either of your parts, if I'm honest." Emmaline stated, plating food and pouring her coffee. It had become a regular occurrence for Emmaline to eat most meals at the Gryffindor table. No one really batted an eye anymore.
"I did not beg her to stay! Sure she broke up with me, but I understood her reasons!" said Remus, furious, with small bits of bacon hanging out of his mouth. I scowled and spoke
"Remus, it's not polite to talk with your mouth full." I turned to Emmaline, "And Athena and Lilly are nothing to worry about. Anyone who believes them probably believes the earth isn't round." I said, causing laughter to erupt from Remus and Emma.
We chatted for a while, ignoring the looks people were sending us for our copious amounts of laughter, and before I knew it, I had to get to potions. Today, I had decided to go early as I needed to talk to Slughorn about doing some extra credit work in his class. Sure, I was getting an 'E', however I was still striving for an 'O' in all classes. It's fun to be a little unrealistic.
