Chapter Sixteen: Ickle-Izzy
"Well, Primrose, it looks like we meet again." Bellatrix cackled, causing hairs on the back of my neck to rise up. Her laughter was shrill and surly one of the worst sounds on the planet. "Where are the other rag tag misfits you hang out with?" she asked rhetorically. Raising her wand, she cast the immobilizing charm on me. "Grey went back to Canada. Dumbledore was the one that let her, and Athena," she continued, "Athena hangs out with Reggie now. "Couple of the year" and what not." She said.
"What are you trying to prove, Black?" I questioned before she cast a silencing charm on me. She smiled sickeningly.
"When you fight fire with fire, you're going to get burned." She said dauntingly, before raising her wand and touching it to my left wrist burning the skin on contact. If I could've cried out, I would've. She continued with burning my arm for a while, before a tear escaped my eye. "Awe, Ickle-Izzy is hurt. Where are my cousin and his team of filth to save you now?" I glared at her.
"You could've joined us, you know. It's not often we take Gryffindor filth like you under our wings. We heard great things about you, and we needed to see it ourselves. Too bad it can't be true, considering what position you're in now." Bellatrix continued, and I could feel my toes wiggling. Slowly but surely, during her monologue, I regained feeling in the rest of my body, and pulled my wand out of my clutch.
"Protego!" I shouted, just as she turned around to hex my some more. She laughed, as if this was all part of her plan. In the long run, maybe it was.
"So you do have some fire in you Primrose? Cute. Crucio!" she shouted, as I shouted 'Expelliarmus'. The beams of magic collided, and pushed against each other, fighting for dominance (A/N: This feels like a creepy fanfic rn.). The beam of blue light from my wand pushed back against the red, until the quiet sound of splintering could be heard, and the force of the magic disconnecting threw me against the wall, Bellatrix landing at the feet of McGonagall.
"This way, Miss Black." She said sternly, ushering Bellatrix back into the castle. I could hear the footsteps of the pair walking away as I looked up at the stars. They were so pleasant. Peaceful. Like they hadn't just watched a fifteen year old girl fight with a seventeen year old over some stupid feud. Like they hadn't seen her nearly get tortured.
"Primrose, are you okay?" the unusually soft voice of one James Potter could be heard from the archway. I looked over, tears threatening to fall, and he got his answer. He walked over quickly, before sitting down with me, and pulling me into his lap. Tears fell from my eyes, and soon I was sobbing into his chest. It was obvious he didn't really know what to do, but he started rubbing my back in slow circles while whispering "It's going to be alright" in my ear.
This lasted a while, and by the noise from the party, I could tell we'd have to leave soon, so as to not be seen by anyone else. I looked up, not really noticing how close he was to me, and met the gaze of James. His eyes, once full of mischief, were now so inviting.
I didn't notice, at first, that we were both leaning in, until he stopped, millimetres in front of face, as if asking a silent question. I closed the gap, our lips molding together, answering the question; yes.
Too soon the kiss was over, and an awkward tension filled the space between us. I got off of his lap, as we heard people coming up the stairs, and blushed.
"So... see you later, I guess?" I said before leaving for the common room, leaving him dumbfounded on the cobblestone. Well this just got awkward.
