That Parade sucked, but it always does. Not that I was actually paying attention. I was focused on Esme eating her blue cotton candy beside my mother while they talked about all the floats. Being in close listening range made it easy for me to hear.

Esme's favorite was the small model of town with a light up star behind it. The float is always made by the Mayor of town with them sitting right in front of the star.

Finally with it being over we go to the Cornell's Shake  Shack and get milkshakes like every year. This was Dad's things beside he thought it would be a nice family outing. Surprisingly mom has Continued it.

"Everyone got their milkshake?" Mom asks us all. "Yep, the sooner we eat, the sooner we go home." Jace says. "But you all love milkshakes for the holiday." Mother counters and causes Alicia go glare. "Yeah with that." She snaps at mom and gets up, going to her ATV. "You all are always so difficult." Mom rolls her eyes and Jace scoffs before getting up. "You hated this when dad did it. Esme let's go." I state and he up.

Esme looks shocked to her me speak to her but I wait for her to stand before walking to my four wheeler. "Are you upset?" Her soft voice asks behind me and I turn glaring at her because obviously. "Sorry." She mumbles. I take the helmet and place it on her head. If anything happens at least she'll live.

I climb on and Esme gets on before I crack up and follow after my siblings.

Mom is going to come back pissed and have the cooks starts preparing food because it's getting dark and then soon fireworks.

We have one of the biggest firework set ups. It was Jace and Dad's things while Alicia loved the milkshakes and I loved the ATV race with dad. Now those things aren't the same. Mom tries but she's criticize some much before I tee annoying now or she criticizes so much now we rather not be around.

She's barely home which I'm not sure if I'm grateful for or annoyed by. Either way I'm doing what I want.

Riding to the lake house Esme is holding on just as tight as she did on my motorcycle at the races. Having her hold on me makes me want to go faster just so she will come closer but I c and do that. I was already feeding into something earlier by getting her a bag of snacks she likes.

What the fuck was I thinking?

I need to chill.

"Thank you for the ride." Esme says and I turn around to her now that I have stopped. "Yeah." I mumble not bothering to sign. What good would it do right now. I take my keys and get off the four wheeler and I clip the helmet from her head.

I'm met with her stunning eyes as she just stares at me for a bit before blinking away and going inside.

"So are you really going to do it?" Alicia asks behind me referring to getting Esme to eventually going out with me, having mom find out then break it off with her so she's fired. I don't want to hurt the girl but it's annoying having a babysitter at nineteen.
