It was quite a surprise that in a simply ordinary afternoon guards and police were flooding every corner of the castle. They didn't do a lot until a meeting was called in the briefing area. A short man was standing where Stewart O'Hare, the leader of the guards, stood every morning at the briefings. Stewart's seemed quite disturbed by this and refused to look away from the wall he was staring at. The amount of seats that were there would have needed to be tripled to fit the huddle of staff gathered in that point of time. The man at the front was being talked to by very stern looking people, it seemed to be a briefing for the short man but anybody's guess was as good as the next person's. After a sudden fall of commotion the nameless announcement began.
"We, the Royal Committee, have gathered you here because of a sudden outbreak among the staff recently. Before we continue would anybody like to hand themselves in before things could get....ugh..let me be true to you, it'll get messy."
The silence carried on and nobody even attempted standing up, as for Tia and Emma, they just slunk back into their seats.
"No guts inside anybody? Well, I shall continue then. We have been informed that there may be more than one member of the staff in this despicable "alliance." We have also been told that their intentions are to take the Lord from power. Everybody here knows that this is the highest offence of crime and is frowned upon by everybody. Whoever think this is ok is just...." The sudden outbreak that was about to erupt out of the short man like a volcano got held back by a few police standing not too far from the man.
"Uh...for Pete's sake just hand yourself in you little splinter to society!"
After that remark one by one or in small groups staff got up and left, leaving the short man with a ruby-red face and an angry expression for all to see.•
"Who could've found out that easily?" whispered Tia cautiously once they were a safe distance from any staff, which was a hard place to find because of the large amount of staff. Stephanie fortunately got a chance to slyly slip away in a nick of time before things got too hot to handle.
"That hipster we occasionally see in the living area?" Emma suggested cluelessly.
"We always make sure he doesn't hear. Trust me, I don't want him of all people to know about "this.""Tia replied. After some time of quizzical staring they decided that they'd actually do some work to get any suspicions of them being the so called "culprit."•
A few days later the news was sent around that somebody had handed themselves in. Tia and Emma first heard the news through a whispered conversation at lunch.
"Apparently the person had gone up to Stewart and admitted thy performed the whole thing."
"Who was it?"
"I don't know, now be quiet. If anybody hears us and tells the Lord that we are doing unimportant gossip in his property we'll end up where she's going."
"Oh please Martha! This is ever so important compared to the usual Elizabeth bought a Cappuccino coloured dress."
"Gwen, I will refuse to be associated with you if you don't do as I say. Ever since primary school you've been my backup and if any staff heard that you are breaking the law they'll think I'm involved!"
"Your backup? Just a little henchman, no, slave, for your personal needs?"
"That's not what I meant. Now, I hate fighting so let's pretend this didn't happen, yes?"
"No Gwen, out friendship is done! Over! I hope your mind is smart enough to understand those words and not just how to manipulate someone!"
"Are you calling me dumb? You're the one that was asked to stay down in year 1! I got 7 A's in year 5 while you got 3! I guess your brain can't do the math!"
"My brain? Also that was in primary school, don't get me started on secondary! You were a total flunk at science AND math. Did I mention that-"
"You flunked English and PE!"
"Well you flunked history!"
"You got a detention during Lord studies for not listening!"
"And you got a E in your Pre test in Lord studies!"
Through the conversation their tones got louder and louder until they eventually reached the level where they were practically screaming at each other.
"It's probably best we go." Tia mumbled under her breath as she put her near empty bowl in the sink, the others repeating this act.•
The scratchy blankets on Daniele's skin caused her skin to swell and rash while she stayed her miserable days that she was clueless that were her last in the prison. If her mother had found out that she had been moved up to the highest security prison that she knew of, she would need her beloved relaxation spa therapy for all of eternity. It was freezing, like it was winter in the middle of Spring. It seemed as if they were trying to make the rare occasion that they had a prisoner treasured by as much punishment being handed out like bribes to kids. It was like torture...well it was torture. The chance of getting out would be less than 0%.
"Hey kid!" a cunning voice called out, Daniele just stayed in her usual depressed curled up ball position.
"I'm going to let you out if you answer me," it called again.
"I find that hard to believe," muttered Daniele under her breath. As the heavy breathing come from the owner of the voice's mouth came closer Daniele uncurled her ball. The owner of the voice was a tall, slim woman with a pale complexion. Her eyes were an odd shade of green, one Daniele had never seen before. Her hair was a dark chocolate brown done up in the required pony tail. Her lips were thin, covered in bright red lipstick. She was wearing a crisp white shirt that fit her nicely and a red pencil skirt. As beautiful as she was to Daniele there was still a sinister feel about her.
"Who are you?" Daniele asked rudely, not intentionally trying to be rude to the mysterious woman.
"Names Gwen. You're Daniele, yes?" she replied in the same suspicious tone.
"Well, hi...Why would you want to be down here anyway? There's nothing to see other than me,"
"I could change that..." Gwen said slyly.
"I rather not hear it, Gwen. My life is miserable enough without being sentenced to prison another time," Daniele sighed. Gwen pulled out an old trundle bag and threw it towards the bar, forcing it back half a centimetre.
"What ever is in that bag could never stop me being trapped again. Nothing but having rights, any rights, could make me at least some emotion," Daniele whinged.
"Only I can free you and give you those rights, think on it girl," Gwen replied sharply, losing patience with each spoken word from Daniele's lips.•
"You know, I hate to say this but where's Stephanie?" Tia inquired, half stressed, partially bored over the whole situation of that day.
"I'm going Emma and I'm leaving Stephanie behind, are you with me or are you going to be doing child's play when we have a plan which hasn't even been made," Tia rudely snapped, trying to seem more intimidating by attempting a sashay. With no thought Emma left Tia behind, going to search for Stephanie so a plan could be created, or at the least an idea. The original thought was easy, but after a minute of walking Emma really had not considered where to walk to. The "if I were Stephanie where would I go?" strategy wasn't very reliable, as it was in most searches. When the zest for ideas had gone the only choice was to go solo.•
"TIA! I've been looking for you for hours. This is castle is like a maze! I mean just look at the corridors! I would refuse to leave in this house...but then again that would mean that I was the ultimate ruler with all power and you would be a peasant, and boy would I get you good for all those hits and beatings,"
"Seriously Stephanie? Just calm down. It's like a Stephanie cliché to exaggerate even minor details. If you were to be the ruler you would have to overtake the Lord, which is what we should be doing if one of us weren't off somewhere else whenever the other two were together," Tia snarled.
"I'm sorry Tia, I just realised what a stupid idea it was to separate. But still Stephanie isn't here so there is no difference," Emma panted.
"Well, hi I guess," Stephanie awkwardly greeted.
"Oh, well, what now?" Tia asked, cautiously trying not to show her hopelessness or any weakness.
"I don't know..." Emma sighed.•
Daniele accepted the trundle bag, ripping open with brute force. Inside was an outfit similar to Gwen's. When Daniele wore it everything seemed baggy on her. The shirt was like a very short dress and the skirt was down to her feet.
"I must say you look...nice? Well, any who, it's about time for me to free you," Gwen said sweetly. Her hand moved towards the iron lock grasped to the cage. She harshly pushed in a golden key that made a clicking sound. She twisted the key to the right, causing the arched iron bar to separate from the lock. Daniele bolted up, her eyes with a noticeable glow like the burst of light from the sun.
"Hey kid! You coming?" Gwen called out.
"Yeah, I am." Daniele replied dreamily.
"Perhaps you didn't mean what you said about feeling emotion?" Gwen teasingly asked.
"I guess I never knew how it felt. Oh, Gwen, how must I repay you?" Daniele cried.
"I'll think of it in my own time. My only request is for you to tag along with me. Trust me, you don't want to mix with repulsive people who have a one track mind," Gwen replied sharply.
