My breathing starts to pick up as the man inches closer to me. I put my hands up to try and protect my face and all my important organs.

I knew this was going to be a trap.

"Curtis, Put the fucking bat down!"

Huh? Who was that?

I see another man round the corner, which I presume is the guy who told 'Curtis' to stop.

The guy who I think is 'Curtis' slowly lowered his arms.

"What did Curtis do this time" Bailey says as she pulls herself up onto the next floor.

"He tried to hit this guy with a bat. Who is he anyway? I thought we said to not bring anyone else up," the guy pointed to me with a confused look on his face.

Curtis had an angry look on his face, and it looked like he could have steam pouring out of his ears.

"Oh, Nick? You'd be surprised to know that he is the last part of our group," Bailey walks over to the side of the room and sets down her belongings.

"No fucking way it's this guy. He looks stupid," Curtis finally spoke up, but in a way I didn't expect. He looked at me in a disgusted way, which got me fired.

"Hey, listen, I don't want to be here anymore then you want me to, asshole," I speak up and face my body towards Curtis. He is going to get on my nerves.

"You two need to shut up before I smash your faces into the ground. Let's introduce ourselves and tell Nick about what he's getting into," Bailey says as she goes and sits on the ground.

We all stare at her and watch as she sits down.

"C'mon everyone, sit your ass down."

I go to sit down next to Bailey, and everyone soon follows. Curtis sat down on the other side of Bailey, while Maggie sat opposite from her. The guy whom I don't know sat in between me and Maggie.

"Okay, to start it off, I'm Bailey. I was given the powers of enhanced senses and the control of electricity."

What? I thought everyone would be given the same skills.

"Alright Curtis, you go next."

Everyone starts to look towards Curtis, which obviously makes him extremely uncomfortable.

"Ahh, shit. Listen, Bailey pretty much just introduced myself. I'm Curtis and I can control objects and the mind," he looked as if he wanted to die of boredom, which I can relate to in the moment.

Curtis has dreads that go down to his shoulders, and he is taller than the average person. He also wears baggy clothes that compliment his chocolate skin quite well.

"Well, I'm Maggie and I have the power to heal and weaken." She turned her head to the guy next to me and looked him in the eyes.

It was now time for the guy next to me to speak, and now that I realize, I know nothing about him.

"I'm Kayce and I have the power of Black magic. Nothing new, nothing special."

He turned his head towards me, which gave me the signal to go next. Although, that's the last thing I'm thinking about. Kayce is a handsome man, and that is something I cannot lie about. Black fluffy hair covers most of his head, and tattoos cover even more of his body. He also has a silver lip ring that comes as an accessory to his plump lips. He has a similar style to me, but he pulls it off way better. Also, he is most definitely over 6 feet tall.

He cleared his throat, which took me out of my trance.

"Oh, uhm, I'm Nick and I have the power of... strength? I don't really know."

"Well, yeah. You have the power of strength and precision," Maggie speaks up and lifts her head as she talks.

"Wait, what? How do you know that?"

That made me more confused than ever. How did she know that?

"Oh, I forgot you didn't know about any of this. We have a book that we found a while ago that gives us some insight about what we might face."

"Okay... so, what does precision exactly mean?" I'm so confused right now, and my questions are only starting to grow.

"The simplest way to put it is that acts and skills come easy for you, and you can do them with accuracy. If you were to shoot a basketball from any side of the court, you would make it 99% of the time. So, there is the answer to your question."

Bailey suddenly stood up and walked over to where her bags were. She pulled out a big book that looked it had been made over 500 years old.

"How old is that damn book?" I ask Bailey, not really expecting an answer.

"I have no idea. I'm going to guess over a thousand years. The book is written in an unknown language. Me and Maggie spent days trying to find out what language it was written in, but it simply doesn't exist." Bailey walked back over and sat down.

She opened the book and flipped the pages until she got to a certain one. Everyone started to gather towards the book and look at the page she flipped to.

"The book doesn't exactly say what the stones do, or at least that's what we can't read. It does provide images, which is helpful when looking for answers," Maggie says as she points to a couple pictures.

She moves her hand to the top of the page and starts to speak.

"This picture right here represents Kayce. The black stone on the side shows us that the image on the side correlates with the stone."

The image showed a man holding his arms up with black matter in his hands.

"So, if you look at the page, each image shows what powers the stone provides. Nick, your stone shows a picture of a target and a dragon, which are symbols of strength and precision."

"Wow, that's so fucking cool. How long have you guys known about this?" I ask in awe and admiration.

"We've all figured out about our 'powers' around a month ago. It's been a hell of a ride since then," Kayce took a breath before he continued to talk, "Weird shit has been happening, and it's not just what the stones caused. I would get more into it, but it's too much to talk about in this moment."

Kayce looked around with a worried look on his face, before he lied down on the ground with his hands behind his head.

"Uhm, okay. One last question. Why does Kayce only have one strength? All of us have two, while Kayce only has one," I glance over to Kayce with a confused look.

"Well, there really isn't a big explanation to that. We think it's because his power is the strongest out of all of ours, so therefore he doesn't need more than one power," Maggie says as she points to where his stone is at on the page.

I look at the page once more, before I realize something.

"Wait, do I have the weakest powers?"

I hear cackling, so I look up to see Curtis covering his mouth while he laughs.

"Pffftttttt, you just now figured that out? It's so obvious! The page goes from the strongest, all the way down to the weakest," Curtis points down at the page, and I can now see what he was talking about.

Kayce was at the top of the page, while I was all the way at the bottom.

"Oh, shut up! Your power is what every superhero has in every movie!" I say in retaliation.

"Be quiet you two. We all hold significance to the group," Bailey says this is she shuts the book and stands up. She walks over to her bag and places the book into it.

I glare at Curtis and try to intimidate him, but I know I'm doing a shit job. Before I know it, Curtis busts out laughing, which gets me laughing too.

Although he is quite annoying, I know we will get along well.
