The next day was dragging so unbelievably slow, I was starting to think the clock stopped ticking at one point.
Not to mention the fact that I completely forgot about a physics test. Alas there wasn't much to do about it.
Also I was keep getting distracted with the events of the previous night."Addie? Addie!" Joy waved her hand in front of my face.
"What?" I asked.
"I was asking if you're okay. You keep spacing out." She looked concerned.
"Oh, yeah, I'm fine. Just tired I suppose." I shrugged it off.
"If you say so. Anyway I gotta go. See you in French?" She already grabbed her backpack.
"Yep. See you then." I smiled and packed my things as well. Only Maths and French and I could go home. The end seemed incredibly far away.Maths wasn't very interesting either. The thoughts. Still kept coming back.
Ghosts shouldn't exist. It was driving me crazy. How was that possible? It went against everything I knew. I wasn't a person that would believe in the supernatural, but this? This on an entirely different level. And the debt, misdeeds, ghosts. Somehow it did not make sense. Before French I made a quick stop to the library and did a little digging into ghosts and stuff. Nothing of importance came up. As I expected.
When I came to the French classroom I was met with a rather strange sight. Luke and his friends had for whatever reason a staring match with my brother. I wanted to go over to see what was happening but the teacher came and started the lesson.
After school as always me and Eugene headed to the playground.
"What was the staring match before French about?" I asked, when we were near the flower shop.
Staring match? Eugene signed, confused.
"Yeah, you were staring at each other. It looked weird."
Luke seems to be having nightmares. I think it might be ghost related.
"You can bring it up tonight. Maybe you could help him. So the staring match?"
Eugene just groaned.
"Come on. Tell me." I laughed.
I told him to get some rest! Like a complete idiot.
"That's not that bad. It could be so much worse."
"I wish I had your confidence..." He muttered.
"Come on. It really isn't as bad as you make it up to be! And I say dumb things all the time!"
But it was so awkward!
"That's fine."When we arrived at the playground the kids seemed to be alone this time.
I headed over to the benches again and Eugene to the swings. I fished out my sketchbook and started mindlessly drawing."Hoodie's weird," the girl said suddenly, peeking at my brother.
The boy instead tried not so subtly take a look at my sketchbook.
"Glasses what are you doing?" He asked finally.
"Drawing." I said.
The boy looked at me with utter awe.
"Finely!" He called at his sister, "Glasses spoke!"
The girl gasped and smiled like a thousand suns. And then continued to bother Eugene. No doubt to get a few words out of him as well. I wasn't very positive, she would be successful.
"Do you wanna play with us Hoodie?" She asked. The kids were supper friendly today. That was unusual. They reminded me of that little ghost from the Office - Hayden. I smiled.
"W-where's your mom?" Eugene suddenly asked.
The kids gasped in surprise and looked at each other, like they just achieved the biggest thing in their lives.
"Hoodie talked!" The girl - Finley said excitedly.
"For the first time!" Finished the boy, "That's so cool!"
"Let's tell mommy about it. MOMMY!"
"Mommy's at home because she's sick." Shushed Finley her brother.
I looked at Eugene and he looked even more miserable than before.
"Bye Hoddie, bye Glasses!"
"Bye Glasses, bye Freckles!"
The kids waved at us and ran off.Eugene turned to me and raised his hands to quickly sign: Let's go home?
I gave him thumbs up.
When I was about to close the drawing something caught my eye. The drawing, I wasn't paying like any attention, was of the ghosts in the office.Okay... that's maybe just a little bit alarming. Am I going crazy for the stars above?
I slammed the sketchbook shut and shoved it into my bag.
"Let's go." I said and we headed home.
