"No!" Evangeline had said. Almost whined.
"Look. You're still not ready. Just stay here, it's only one week anyways. Just one." A more calm voice. It was Remus.
"I can't just stay here. I have to go. Or I will miss lessons and I will be behind. I can't. Please!"
They all looked at her with mixed looks of concern and pity.

Later that same day Jacqueline sat down in her seat in potions class. On her right sat Dulcis. She smiled at him and he smiled back. This was their last potions class this year. She tried not to think about it.
Just about two years ago in this very room they had started talking, leading to their now friendship.

Looking backwards she saw Riley - as always sitting right behind her.
She had first met Riley because they shared a dorm.
Later when she had said goodbye to Dulcis at the station, as everyone was going home for the Christmas holidays, she had met Lily Evans, who was there to say goodbye to Severus. That was when, Jaqueline had first met Lily and Sev. When they had come back to Hogwarts again two weeks later, Lily and Jaqueline started becoming friends.
Through Lily she had met Remus, and then through him Riley. Knowing Remus and sharing a dorm with Riley it was pretty much inevitable for them to become friends.
The lesson went pretty smooth. The usual: Jaqueline and Dulcis paired up, finished their potion as one of the three maybe four first and professor Slughorn congratulated them on their success.
Riley paired up with Sybill Trelawney, a girl from Ravenclaw.

After Transfiguration Jaqueline went straight to pack her trunk. Not because she was excited. Of course not. She just had to hurry so that she would have time to look it all through twice afterwards and then meet up with Dorcas, Mary, Marlene and Lily, then Evangeline, Dulcis and Riley and then she was going to say goodbye to Severus aswell if she could find him. And then she was heading for the trainstation.

Jaqueline managed to do everything she had planned on doing before leaving Hogwarts. She even found Severus. She was now on her way to the Hogwarts Express just like the rest of Hogwarts' students. By her side was George. They walked there together. Like last year.

As soon as they reached the crowd of people at the station, George embraced his little sister in a warm, tight hug.
"Are you sure?" he whispered.
'Are you sure, you want to go back "home" to those monsters?'
'No. No, I don't want to.'
"Yes."

On the train she sat in a compartment with only her and Jack.
Like last year.

The whole time noone as much as said a word. The only sounds heard in the compartment were when Jaqueline silently turned a page in her book or when one of them dared to breath.

Her mother let go of her and her brother's hands still with the same cold expression on her face. She walked up the stairs and just as she reached the top the doors swung open there was Jaqueline's father. Jack started his walk up the elegant stairs just like his mother had done a moment before. As soon as Jaqueline registered her brother's movement she took a deep breath made her way up aswell.
She knew what was waiting for her.
In there...
The great, magnificent doors closed behind her with a loud bang.

🌘•••☆•♡•☆•••🌒
(TW):

"CRUCIO!"
"How dare you?!" Her mother's voice almost trembled with cold rage.
Another curse hit Jaqueline. This time just between her shoulder and chest.
She didn't flinch.
Neither did her mother who put all her rage into every nonverbal spell and curse.
"Crucio"
And then a nonverbal one again.
And another.
And another.
"I told you to stay away from those people. I might just have to talk to Dumbledore. I can't have you be seen with such... mudbloods." She almost spat the last word out. As if she had been waiting for too long to finally getting this disgusting thing out of her mouth.
Another nonverbal spell of sorts hit Jaqueline right on her collarbone. Still neither of them flinched.
She had ignored her parents' "advice" and now she was paying.

But it was worth it.
She wouldn't trade her friends for a thing.

Not even peace from the cruciatus curse.

Most people would go insane after experiencing this amount of pain.
People had gone insane after this amount of pain.
And for this long.

But not Jaqueline.
No.
Not her.
But she had grown up with it. Her body had gotten used to it. It was different. Different from the people who experienced it for the first time.

Jaqueline sat on her bed and pointed her wand at her wounds. In the end her mother had sent a Flipendo her way. After Jaqueline had finally started falling to the floor.
First her shoulder. She needed her shoulder to work properly so she could practice for Hogwarts while at home aswell.
She muttered the spell and her arm fell back into place.

Sitting at the dinner table Jaqueline moved her gaze from Jack who sat across from her to her mother who sat at the end of the table to her left and then at last she settled her eyes upon her father. The head of the family. Sitting there at the opposite end of the table from her mother. He looked like a monarch, a King, letting his gaze wander from his wife to meet the eyes of his children - his youngest son, Jack - named after himself by tradition - and his only daughter, Jaqueline - another name passed down through tradition.
His eyes hardened at the sight of his daughter.
As he turned his gaze back towards his wife at the other end of the table he said:
"I have just been informed that we will be hosting The Summer Ball this year."
'Oh, great! Just great!'
