I walked down the street looking ahead. The streets were full of snow which I loved since I moved here. Here people hate to walk in snow. Society has changed them and I feel sorry for them. I sat on the bench in my usual park. Walking in the early mornings keeps me fit and healthy. So I won’t miss even in winter. I like birds singing but in winter they are rare. But still snow is there. I need to hurry to home because shadow will be waiting for me. I reached my home which is far away from city and traffic. As I entered my street  my neighbor Mr. Ross waved at me. I smiled at him and walked to my door. As I opened my door Shadow busted on me. He’s the loveliest dog I ever found. I found him one day at the pet shop and brought him home. We are family for each other.

I patted on his head and gave him his favorite biscuit. He started eating that and I went to change myself. My house is a duplex with two bedrooms on the upper side. It was given by my grandma. I work for my shop down the street where I live. I have a coffee shop which is quite famous here. People love my coffee and I have regular customers. I wore black low hip jeans and brown jumper. It was cool over me. My top matches my eye color and my jeans match my hair, funny. I wore my jacket and scarf and glanced at the mirror. Everything is perfect. I took shadow and walked to my shop.

“You are late,” Shelly was waiting in the cold. She is one of my employee and dearest friend. When I started my shop she came for a coffee. After few days she asked me if I can give her any job. From that day there was no turning back. She was the best in everything. She arranges parties and a specialist in pastries. She helped me to raise my shop.

“I know… I am sorry,” I looked at her smilingly. The falling of the snow is stopped now but the streets were filled with them.

“Hmm… it cold here, will you open the door,” she pleaded.

“Sorry,”

I opened the door and switched on the heater. We still have the time for our visitors. Shelly rushed to the kitchen and started her job without waiting for others. I cleaned up the room and opened the counter. My café was quite beautiful. It is built with huge glass windows and with lots of paintings. The paintings were mainly from Italy and India. I planted lightning all over the ceiling and cream, pink and blue ribbons hanging on the ceiling. I laid chairs and tables neatly and few tables outside where there is shade. Mostly many people prefer to drink outside but since it is snowing they prefer inside. Shadow was waving his tail seeing at me. I patted at his head. He had a special place in my room, it’s beside me. Its 8 o’clock and our customers started. Usually it will be busy at this time in weekdays but since it is weekend there are fewer customers.

I smiled to myself when a tall guy in his business suit under his black long coat opened the cafe door and stepped inside.

“Good morning Shelly,” Richard yelled from the bar.

“You know Rick; you don’t have to shout at her. She won’t listen to you now,” I reached him and gave him his coffee. He looked at me and smiled.

“Hi Kate. I am fed up with her. She doesn’t reply me here. She treats me as a stranger,” he sat there drinking coffee. He mused and shook his head. His now brown hair is all messed up but he cared less about it. The thing about Rick is that he is a very patience man.

When I looked past his shoulders, I started laughing at him. He looked at me and raised his eyebrows.

“What happened?” He was confused at my laugh.

“You shouldn’t have said that,” I turned back shaking my head and went back to my counter.

“Hey tell me,” he shouted back.
