Y/N huffed as she skidded backwards from one of Itadori's attacks. They had been sparring for nearly an hour now and were both beyond exhausted. It had been two weeks since the boat accident and everyone was recovering well.

Kugisaki was just beginning to get back into her regular daily routine as her concussion healed but the other three first years were all back to full training. The first few days after the accident had been hectic.

Yaga became the personal message boy of the higher ups, who expressed their sincere condolences for yet another mislabeled case that could have resulted in death. Gojo was unimpressed and had spent nearly a week complaining about the higher ups to whoever was nearby. Nanami had stopped by once or twice to ensure that everyone was doing well, which was kind of the busy sorcerer and businessman.

Another heavy hit by Itadori brought Y/N's attention back to the fight she was in. She studied Itadori as he approached for another hit. He swung his left fist, but it was only a cover up for the right-handed blow he wanted to deal.

Y/N leaped back and caught him by surprise with two hits from her duller training cards.

"Ha! You'd be dead!" She cheered at her success.

"You only surprised me 'cause I'm tired!"

They laughed off his excuses and returned to Gojo, who had been watching their spar and giving pointers.

"You two certainly don't look like you were almost turned into tuna salad a few weeks ago! Both of you were looking sharp out there."

"Thanks, Gojo!"

"This is short notice, but would you two like to go on a small assignment this afternoon? It will be easy for you two and Fushiguro to handle, but I want you all to work together," Gojo was pleasantly surprised with how eager both students wanted to go.

"An easy assignment? Sign us up!" Y/N and Itadori fist-bumped.

"I thought you all could use a little morale boost. A relatively peaceful success should do the trick!"

The three first years assembled in the common room in record time and chatted about what they thought the assignment would entail. Kugisaki stopped by on her way to lunch with Maki and wished them good luck.

"Bring me a souvenir if you go anywhere cool!" Nobara made Y/N promise she would.

"I think it's just a local mission, but I'll bring you something back."

The two girls hugged goodbye and the trio set off to wait by the front gate for the inevitably late Gojo.

"This is our stop," Gojo announced as he parked the car across the street from a small house. "All you need to do is go inside and exorcise the curse."

"It looks like such a cute little home. Why is it cursed?" Y/N questioned.

The small home couldn't have more than two rooms. It was clearly once loved by the meticulously groomed garden out front and the clean outward appearance.

"It was home to a sweet elderly woman according to the neighbors. She passed away recently, but a curse had been growing in the house from her loneliness. It materialized as she passed on without any of her children or grandchildren present."

"That's so sad," Itadori frowned. The thought of a family member moving on to the afterlife without anyone was a particularly sad thought for him.

"Let's exorcise this curse and honor her life. We should water her garden before we leave."
