"Wow, this place is gorgeous!" Y/N was in awe of the restaurant Fushiguro had chosen. It was even more perfect than she had imagined.

"I thought you would like it!" Fushiguro was proud that he had found a place she loved.

"You picked perfectly."

They ordered their food and chatted about smaller topics for a while, but one thing was still stuck on Fushiguro's mind.

"Are you feeling alright after what happened the other day?"

Y/N's face became more serious. She didn't want to lie to him, but she also didn't want to seem like she needed someone to look after her at all times.

"I'm alright. It was a bit of a shock and it upset me, but I will be back to normal soon."

"All that matters is that you are okay," Fushiguro gave her a warm smile.

"How are you doing after all of the recent events? It's been a bit of a chaotic first year, huh?"

"Ha, it certainly has." He sighed as he reflected on the past few months. "There have been a lot of ups and downs, but it is really nice to have a group of friends and mentors who I can trust. It's easier to go through hard things when you have allies by your side."

"I couldn't have said it better," Y/N agreed.

"I just want you to know, Y/N, you are always safe with me."

"The same goes for you, Megumi."

"Jujutsu sorcery may be unpredictable, but I will always do my best to make sure you're alright."

"I may not have as much experience as you do, but I will always do the same for you."

"Even if it means losing a shikigami, I'd save you."

"Wow... I don't know if I have something to one-up that with..." Y/N admitted.

"It's alright, I didn't mean to turn it into a one-upping kind of thing. I just wanted to say I care about you."

"Aw, I care about you too."

When the time came, they paid the bill and left the restaurant. Neither of them wanted to go back to school yet, so they took a detour to the same garden they had walked through together not too long ago.

The atmosphere was different at night. They were the only two people around and a calm feeling had settled over the plants and animals.

"Y/N?"

"Megumi?"

"This may be a bit obvious, but I still want to say it."

"Oh?"

"I like you. A lot."

"Wow, I had no idea!" Y/N faked a look of surprise and they both laughed. "I like you too, Fushiguro."

She sat down on a bench overlooking a lake filled with fish and flowers. He sat beside her and they enjoyed the peaceful night together.

"So, does this make us boyfriend and girlfriend now?"

"I think it does."

They looked at each other for a moment, unsure if the other was thinking the same thing they were. After a slight moment of hesitation, their lips met.

They pulled away after the short kiss and sat together. Fushiguro reached over and held Y/N's hand. They sat on the bench together just like that for a bit and stared up at the stars. Y/N pointed out what constellations she could find and Fushiguro enjoyed listening to her voice.

"Do you think it's time to go home now?" Y/N asked him as he laid his head on her shoulder.

"Home?"

"I- I meant school," she looked away, embarrassed at her slip up.

"Jujutsu High is home for me too," he reassured her.

"Aw."

"Let's go home," he didn't let go of her hand as he stood up or for the entire time until they were back at the gates of Tokyo Jujutsu High.

They enjoyed the sights and sounds of the walk back home.

That was the thing about Y/N and Megumi. They could be loud together or they could be quiet together. The best part of anything was that they were together. It didn't matter if they barely spoke or if they chatted the entire time, what mattered most to them is that they were with each other.

High school carried on like normal. Sure, Itadori and Kugisaki spent hours trying to drag the information of how they got together out of them. Sure, Gojo acted like a proud father for days after Fushiguro told them. Sure, there were small differences.

However, life carried on. There were good days and there were bad days. Sometimes Y/N would beg Fushiguro to let her play with Demon Dog. Sometimes Fushiguro would bring Y/N random card decks and ask her to teach him how to play different games.

They spent time together when they could but also enjoyed the company of everyone around them. Maki, Panda, and Inumaki would frequently stop by the first years' common room for movie nights and card game tournaments (every tournament ended with Inumaki and Y/N playing the championship game for a few hours).

Maki and Y/N continued to spar together. Their similar attitudes and vastly different fighting styles forced them both to adapt and improve with every session. Panda was both their favorite cheerleader and referee.

The first years of Y/N's life may have been a struggle, but she survived them and made it to some of the best years of her life. She continued to grow as a jujutsu sorcerer with her boyfriend and best friends by her side.

In some cases, life is based on the luck of the draw. In other cases, it's all about how you play your cards.

A bit of a shorter chapter, but it felt like a fitting place to end.
