[Spring day] - [BTS]As the night wore on, the silence in the apartment embraced Jay's persistent insomnia. The room, adorned with subtle hues and comfortable furnishings, offered no solace to the singer seeking refuge in slumber. The bed, while inviting, became a battleground between fatigue and restlessness.
Jay kept tossing around, his insomnia getting the best of him. Don't get him wrong; the bed was comfortable, but sleep was unattainable.
He got up from his room and stood on his tiptoes, heading to the balcony for some fresh air. However, he saw that someone was already there, and the figure noticed him before he could even blink.
"Ah, son, why are you awake at this hour?" It was Sora's mom.
"I couldn't sleep."
She gave him a warm smile and ushered him to come over, already treating him like a child of her own. "So why did you come here with my Sora? I'm surprised because my daughter barely comes home."
"I'm actually one of her patients. She suggested that we go on a trip."
"Shouldn't you do those things by yourself?... Do you harbor feelings for my Sora?" Jay's breath hitched at the sudden question, and he stuttered, but Sora's mom laughed at him. "I'm just kidding."
She added, "But either way, I think you're special to her. She never introduced her friends to us, not even her ex-boyfriend."
With the moonlit balcony as their confessional, Jay and Sora's mom continued their exchange.
"I doubt that. She is very cold towards me," Jay confessed, the moon casting shadows on his contemplative expression.
Sora's mom, with an understanding smile, responded, "Just be patient with her. My sweet Sora might seem strong and cold on the outside, but inside, she is actually a very fragile and sensitive girl. She has always been like that. She'd never tell us when she is in pain; she would only give us a smile. But one thing about her is that when she cries, she can't stop. She loses control of her tears."
In those quiet moments under the moon, Jay's admiration for Sora deepened. He yearned to be her confidant, to embrace her vulnerability, and to stand as her shield. These feelings found voice in his promise to Sora's mom.
"Mrs. Jung, I will stay by your daughter's side no matter what, and I'll protect her," he declared, translating the sincerity of his emotions into a few heartfelt words.
"You're so cute," she remarked, emphasizing the charm in Jay's pledge. With a gentle touch, she concluded, "You should go to sleep; you have a long day ahead of you tomorrow." The night, woven with secrets and newfound understanding, hinted at the dawn of a profound connection.
The car ride was shrouded in an uneasy silence, and despite Sora's attempts to find solace in sleep, rest eluded her. The awkward quiet hung in the air, creating a palpable tension that neither of them dared to breach.
In an effort to dissolve the unease, Sora ventured, "Do you want to eat something? I know a place."
Before Jay could respond, his stomach roared in agreement, rendering his words obsolete. Sora, trying to suppress a chuckle, turned to the window.
They arrived at a restaurant where they were the sole patrons. As Jay prepared to order a meal for two, Sora intervened, sternly stating, "I will not be eating with you. Firstly, a patient and their therapist should not spend time like this outside professional boundaries."
Rolling his eyes, Jay interrupted, "Still yapping that bullshit."
Sora's tone turned cold as she retorted, "Don't cut me off. Secondly, we cannot be seen together. It might ruin your career; you're on thin ice anyway."
Jay, momentarily lost in the idea of enjoying a simple meal, was abruptly yanked back to the reality of prying eyes and the fragility of his public image, a harsh reminder delivered by Sora's unyielding words. The delicate dance between personal desires and the constraints of their circumstances hung heavily over their table.
She left him with his two servings and sat outside, relishing some time alone. However, this time, an unexpected desire for another presence tugged at her. Glancing back at Jay through the window, she witnessed him eating alone, and a pang of guilt struck her, recalling his words, "I hate loneliness."
Deciding to cast aside their professional titles, she opted for a day as Sora and Jay, not the psychologist and the idol. Regret filled her as she took a seat in front of him, commencing to eat her food, and she offered the man across from her a timid smile.
Sora and Jay engaged in conversation, unraveling more about each other. Their peaceful moment, however, was disrupted by Sora's ringing phone. She smiled as she checked her screen, seeing Dani, a patient who had evidently made progress.
While talking to Dani, offering advice on time management, Sora's expression shifted abruptly.
The smile faded, replaced by beads of cold sweat as she heard unsettling words,
"farewell doctor, I will finally be free."
Dani abruptly hung up, leaving Sora shouting her name, but the phone remained silent as it appeared she had turned it off.
