As Artem and his tank rolled along the exclusion zone of Chernobyl, he noticed that many of the bones he saw were wearing spatnaz armor, some that he couldn't even recognize from his tour in Afghanistan.
Artem: "The soviets sure have upgraded their weapons and armor since my time."

He decided that he should probably get some basic equipment. So he hopped back into his tank, and drove away.

Once he came to a large road, he noticed something on the side of a tree. It appeared to be a humanoid-looking creature, who appeared to be wearing a broken gas mask.

Artem: "The hell is this?"

As Artem approached the creature, it lunged at him, making horrific snorking sounds. Artem was quick to defend himself.

Artem: "What the hell are you?!"

The creature only produced grunts and snorks, not seeming to be able to communicate, at least not anymore.

Creature: "Snorkkkk... me...."

The creature was relentless. It clawed at Artem's face as if it was a dying man reaching for water. Artem was barely able to get punches in between blocking the attacks.

Soon enough, both him and the creature had fallen out of the tank, and onto the ground. As they both wrestled each other, desperately fighting for their life and their meal, a shot rang out. The creature stood up, staggering, and fell down, uttering a "thank you," before finally passing on.

Artem: "Glad I had that pistol on me. That could have gone very bad."

With that, he got back into his tank, and started rolling towards Pripyat.

About 20 minutes later, he arrived. Artem noticed that the buildings were covered with vines, and seemed dilapidated and in a very long state of disrepair.

Artem: "Wonder if there's some kind of environmental thing happening.

Another thing he noticed was the lack of people. He was slightly unnerved by all the skeletons earlier, but this was downright creepy.

As Artem rolled up to his apartment block, he drew his gun. He then got out of the tank and walked in.

He went directly up to the third floor, heading to the second door on the left. Artem took notice of the absurd amount of military gear and surplus laying around within the cramped hallway. Barricades, boxes, papers, all lying as if they hadn't been touched in a long long time.

Artem: "I would have expected more from the great Soviet army."

Artem eventually reached what was his room. It appeared to have been turned into some kind of communication room. As he was looking around, Artem saw a computer, appearing to be barely clinging to life.

Artem: "Is this what computers are now? Teeny tiny boxes and not taking up a whole room?"

He eventually found the power button, and started to scroll through the archived messages that were displayed.

Artem: "Alright, here we go."

As he scrolled, he noticed there seemed to be no new or recent messages.

Artem: "Twelve thousand years ago? That must be an error. I'll have to alert some engineers about it. Well, when I find some."

Artem started to look through the logs, eventually finding one titled "Bombs."

Artem: "Alright, let's see what's going on."
