{Science class}

I'm in class sitting next to Sharpay and across Taylor. Sharpay turned in her seat to face me.

Sharpay: Hi, I'm Sharpay, Sharpay Evans. And you might be?

Aaliyah: I'm Aaliyah, Aaliyah Montez

Sharpay: Ohh, so you're Gabriella's sister?

Aaliyah: Yep, that would be me

Sharpay: Ohh cute

Sharpay turns back around in her seat and starts talking to my sister.

Sharpay: So, it seemed like you knew Troy Bolton

Gabriella: Not really. He was just showing me around

Sharpay: (laughs) Well, Troy usually doesn't
interact with new students,

Gabriella: Uh, why not?

Sharpay: It's pretty much basketball 24/7 with him,

Aaliyah: Sounds like somebody's jelly (singly muttered)

Taylor chuckled, being the only one who heard me.

Gabriella: That should be 16 over pi...

Science teacher: Yes, Miss Montez?

Gabriella: I'm sorry, I was just... Uh... Shouldn't the second equation read 16 over pi?

Science teacher: 16 over pi? That's quite impossible, I stand corrected. Oh... and welcome aboard (looking at Gabriella and I).

Taylor looked at Gabriella impressed, while Sharpay looked at her angrily shocked. I giggled at her expression and continued to write the notes.

{theater/detention}

Miss Darbus: Gold! More gold! Paint, paint! Let's go!
Aaliyah, you are doing some fine painting.

Aaliyah: Thank you, Miss Darbus

Miss Darbus pats me on the shoulder and continues to walk around.

Taylor: The answer is yes!

Gabriella: Huh?

I eavesdrop on Taylor and Gabriella conversation.

Taylor: Our scholastic decathlon team
has its first competition next week,
and there is certainly a spot for you

Gabriella: Where did those come from?

Taylor: Didn't you put them in my locker?

Gabriella: Of course not

Taylor: Well, we'd love to have you on our team,
We meet almost every day after school. Please?

Gabriella: I need to catch up on the curriculum here
before I think about joining any clubs

Sharpay: Well, what a perfect way to get caught up,
Meeting with the smartest kids in school. What a generous offer, Taylor

Aaliyah: Gabs, you should do it

Miss Darbus: So many new faces in detention today,
I hope you don't make a habit of it, but the drama club can always use an extra hand. And while we are working, let us probe the mounting evils of cell phones

While Miss Darbus talking about that, I look over to Chad and he's inside a tree; he starts making silly faces. I giggle quietly at him, then he looks at me smiling and waves, I did the same and went back to painting.

After a minutes, hours, whatever it was, I start to get sleepy. I look over to see Chad asleep and Troy messing with him, I snickered a little. Miss Darbus is still talking about cell phones.

Miss Darbus: Perhaps the most heinous example of
cell-phone abuse is ringing in the theater. What temerity! The theater is a temple of art. A precious cornucopia of creative energy.

Coach ?: Where's my team, Darbus?

I jolt awake from almost falling asleep, after hearing someone yelling.

Coach ?: What the heck are those two doing in a tree?

Miss Darbus: It's called crime and punishment, Bolton. Besides, proximity to the arts is cleansing for the soul.

I see the man, who Miss Darbus is talking to, and recognized him from free period, he's the basketball coach. I assume, he is Troy's dad, because of last name.

Coach Bolton: Can we have a talk, please? And you two, in the gym, now!

Troy and Chad walk out of the theater and the rest of us finish what we were doing.
