Next day..

(bell ringing)

I'm sitting of the stoned wall of platform in front the school for Taylor and Chad. I see coming towards me and signaling Taylor to come over.

Chad: So, my watch is 7:45 Mountain Standard
time, We synched?

Taylor: Whatever

Chad: Then we're on go mode for lunch, 12:05

Taylor: Yes, Chad, we're a go. But we're not Charlie's Angels, OK?

Chad: I can dream, can't I?

Aaliyah: Ohhh, that's why you have the watches on your arm

{gym}

I'm standing in the middle of the court, waiting for the basketball team and Coach Bolton. They all finally arrived.

Aaliyah: So y'all must be wondering, why I called you guys in here

The boys nod in agreement.

Aaliyah: So y'all so-called captain doesn't think I can make 3 three-pointers, 5 free throws, and 1 half court shot

They all looked at me confused.

Aaliyah: Let me give a backstory. At my old school, during my sophomore year, I was on a girls basketball team. We had made it to the league championship game, I scored 45 points in that game

They looked at me shocked and disbelief.

Aaliyah: So, I told Troy about, he didn't so we made a bet. If I make 3 three-pointers, 5 free throws, and 1 half court shot, and he would believe me. But the catch was that I had to it in front of y'all, so here we are

Some 'ohh's came from them.

Aaliyah: I'm going to start with the 5 free throws, then the 3 three-pointers, and finally 1 half court shot. Y'all are going each one of them ok?

The boys nodded in response.

I get a basketball, go to free throw line, dribble the ball, get ready to shoot the ball, and made the shot.

The boys: 1!

I put one hand behind my back, shooting the ball with the other, and made it.

The boys: 2!

I start show off a bit. I get done with my free throws and started my three-point shots. It doesn't take long though. So far, I made all my free throws and three-pointers, but there is one more. Finally, but certainly not least the 1 half court shot.

Aaliyah: Ok, you guys ready?

The boys: Yeah!

Aaliyah: Alright

I walk over to the half court line, getting ready to shoot. I did a little something to show off, I closed eyes and shot the ball. To no surprise to me, I made the shot, but the boys were all stunned.

Aaliyah: Troy, you believe me now?

Troy: Y-yeah

Aaliyah: Great, so I'm going to go to the art room and yeah

I left the gym, with the boys still shocked, and went the art room.

{time skip}

{bell ringing}

{lunchtime: locker room}

I hear the locker room door open, it was Troy, me and boys got ready to execute the plan.

Chad: "Spider" Bill Netrine, class of '72. He was the MVP in the league championship game

Zeke: Sam Nedler, class of '02. Also known as "Sammy Slamma Jamma." Captain, MVP of the league championship team

Jason: The "Thunder Clap," Hap Hadden, '95. Led the Wildcats to back-to-back city championships. A legend

Chad:Yes, Legends, one and all. But do you think that any of these Wildcat legends became legends by getting involved in musical auditions days before the league championships?

The boys: Get your head in the game!

Chad: No. These Wildcat legends became legends because they never took their eye off the prize

The boys: Get your head in the game!

Chad: Who was the first sophomore ever to make starting varsity?

The boys: Troy!

Chad: Who voted him team captain this year?

The boys: Us!

Chad: And who is gonna get their butts kicked (Aaliyah: And cheer for that) in Friday's championship game if Troy's worried about an audition?

The boys: We are

Aaliyah: Us cheerleaders too

Troy: Guys, come on. There's 12 people on this team,
not just me,

Chad: Just 12? Oh, no. I think you're forgetting about one very important 13th member of our squad,

Troy: My dad,

Chad: Yes, Troy. Wildcat basketball champion,
class of 1981. Champion, father, and now coach. It's a winning tradition like no other

Aaliyah: And you're willing to lose a winning tradition to sing with my older sister

I leave to the girls locker room to change for later, but I still hear the boys talking.

Troy: Guys, if you don't know that I'll put
a 110% of my guts into that game, then you don't know me

Chad: But we just thought...

Troy:,I'll tell you what I thought. I thought that you're my friends. Win together, lose together, teammates

Chad: But suddenly the girl...(points the camera) and the singing

Troy: Man, I'm for the team! I've always been for the team. She's just someone I met. All right the singing thing is nothing. A way to keep my nerves down. It means nothing to me. You're my guys and this is our team. Gabriella is not important. I'll forget about her, forget the audition and we'll get that championship and the cheerleaders cheer for a winning team. Everyone happy now?

I leave the locker room and rush down the hallway; I could still hear the boys.

Chad: Wildcats!

The boys: Get your head in the game! Whoo!

One of the boys: Let's go!

A random girl: Go, Wildcats!

A lot of students are outside in front of the school. The cheer squad and I do our cheer routine we have been practicing.

All the students: Everybody sing out. Wildcats everywhere wave your hands up in the air. That's the way we do it let's get to it, time to show the world

Wildcats, sing along,
they really got it going on

Wildcats in the house
everybody sing out

Wildcats everywhere,
wave your hands up in the air...

Basketball team: Troy, Troy, Troy
