Hyeon's pov

After breakfast, everyone went their separate ways—some heading to their rooms, others to the library. I decided to take a stroll around the school, my curiosity leading me to explore as usual.

Passing by Mr. Kim's office, I noticed the door was slightly ajar. Intrigued, I peeked inside and saw that the room had changed since my last visit. The once-empty bookshelf was now filled with numerous books. My eye caught a familiar title: The Secrets of JE. I had been searching for this book throughout the library, and here it was.

I stepped inside, checking for anyone who might be around. Seeing the coast was clear, I reached for the book. To my surprise, it was stuck. As I cleared the space around it, I discovered a hidden button. With a cautious press, the bookshelf began to move, revealing a hidden staircase leading downward.

Driven by my adventurous spirit, I descended the stairs. Along the walls were framed photographs of the top students from each year, starting from the school's inception. I was startled to see Mrs. Oh among them as the top student from years ago.

As I continued, I heard muffled cries—familiar and heartbreaking. I quickened my pace, reaching a small, cage-like room where I found Yeon. The sight was almost too painful to bear. She looked frail, and seeing her like this made my heart ache.

I rushed to her, hugging her gently, not wanting to hurt her fragile frame. "What happened? Did they hurt you? Am I too late? Should we escape now?" My voice trembled with worry as I examined her for any injuries.

"Yeonie, don't worry. I'm fine. They feed me well, though I refuse to eat much," Yeon reassured me.

"I'm so sorry, Eonie. I'm sorry you're going through this because of me. I failed to protect you. I broke my promise."

"No, it's not your fault. I asked for this. You need to leave now; they'll be coming soon," Yeon said, wiping away my tears.

"Go straight and turn right. There will be two doors. Go through the black one. It will lead you to the forest in the backyard," she instructed. I nodded, determined to get her out.

"I'll come back for you. Please stay safe and healthy until then," I pleaded.

"Don't worry. I'll be alright."

Following Yeon's directions, I found the black door and made my way to the forest in the backyard. I quickly climbed over the fence, my heart racing as I tried to avoid detection by the guards.
