The looming skyscrapers made it hard for Nick to call New York City home for the first two years of his stay. If he had a choice in the matter, he would've chosen to live in an apartment in Brooklyn, away from the hustle and bustle of Manhattan. But alas, his father insisted that for his human career to take off, midtown was his best bet; and, although begrudgingly, he had to admit his father was right.

Nick Night, the second son to the Alpha of the Moonlight clan, had journeyed to the human world at 18 years old under orders to cement his place among the rich and the famous. Though he was an alpha family's descendant and an heir to vast generational wealth, he couldn't access it until he had wealth and power of his own. His older brother, the first-born son with considerably more on the line given his status, had already become a millionaire through software development at the biggest tech conglomerate in the human world. A millionaire, to werewolf society, isn't necessarily something to sniff at, but given that he had only been at it for seven years, even the high echelons of werewolf society had to admit that it was quite the accomplishment.

Nick almost considered software development cheating. Werewolves were able to grasp things much quicker than humans due to their enhanced senses, so where it would've taken over a decade of schooling for a human to even begin to enter the job market, it took his brother about five. However, the overlying pressure to prove himself since he would eventually need to take over as the clan alpha made Nick cut his brother some slack.

Nick, on the other hand, decided on the arguably harder route of becoming a big-time actor. He didn't have to rush to prove himself, and at least that way he could enjoy his first two years in the human world before his coming-of-age presenting ceremony happened. Of course, after he eventually presented as an alpha, he'd have to step up his game and start acting like one. His coming-of-age gala was approaching; just two weeks till he had his wolf. He needed to go back to the werewolf world a week in advance for all the necessary preparations. Nick was attempting to make the most of the laid-back time he had in the human world before then. The only thing standing in his way was one audition. One kind of big audition.

It had been a mistake that led Nick to take this one. His manager-- who also served as his protector-- had plopped the papers on his desk about a month ago, and he had kinda just signed off on it without seeing the actual idea. When he went back and read what the audition was for, he started freaking out (just a little bit). The audition was for the main role in a new TV series, Where Stars Dance. The show was highly anticipated by the public, with a very well-known director and producer presiding over it. So, of course, a lot of big-name actors were auditioning for the role. What made him stick with the decision was that this would be huge for him if he ended up even getting called back for a part as a side character. He had only ever acted in smaller shows, and there were only so many smaller gigs he could do before his path ahead would begin to look bleak. He had to break into the industry.

Breaking into the industry isn't easy when you're running ten minutes late though.

"Nick! Get out of bed, you lazy pup!" Nick's manager, Jacob, suddenly yanked the covers off him.

"Huh? Wha..." was all Nick got out before a pile of clothing was dumped on his head.

"Your audition?!" Jacob screamed, throwing his hands up. "The rather large one at Sunset Studios? You know, for Where Stars Dance? That ring a bell??" Nick's brain registered "audition" and "Where Stars Dance" after which it took him all of thirty seconds to get into his jeans and white t-shirt and to the bathroom sink.

"Hoy cap, hanks or waking we up--" Nick spit out his toothpaste and ran to grab his already packed bag. "Owe ya one Jacob!" Not even a second later, he was out the door.
