Nick was not necessarily nervous to return to his home for the first time in two years, but he was a bit on edge. He had spent so long in the human world that he needed to get acclimated to being around werewolves again. Not only that, but now he was only a week out from his coming-of-age gala.
Jacob seemed to pick up on his nerves, placing a hand on his shoulder.
"Don't worry, Nick. You have no reason to worry. Everything is going to go smoothly." Nick tensed up and put his stoic facade back on. When had he let it slip anyway?
"I know. There will be nothing I haven't witnessed before." Jacob tilted his head slightly, as if trying to see through the wall he was putting up. If he noticed something, he didn't mention it.
Nick stepped out of the car 30 minutes later, where he was immediately tackled by his much taller, much heavier older brother.
"Nick!" He shouted into his ear.
"Gee, yeah, give me a headache right when I get here why don't ya?" Nick grimaced, pushing away from him. He could already feel the joint pain coming back. "But it's good to finally see you again, Jay."
"You have got to tell me how things are going with your acting! Are you a hotshot yet? Do you have ladies swooning over you? Tell me everything."
The two chatted, walking in the manor and towards Nick's room.
"Well, well, well." A voice from behind them boomed. He jumped a bit, but relaxed as he turned to face the dominating figure of his father, commonly referred to as Alpha Night.
"Hello, Father," Nick smiled.
"Son!" the Alpha opened his arms and scooped his son up, bringing him into a rib-bruising hug. He only released him when he felt the tapping of Nick's hand against his bicep. He put him down, letting Nick catch his breath. "Aren't you excited for your gala, son?"
Nick grimaced internally, but kept a smile on his face.
"Of course! I'll finally be an Alpha like all of you. A real member of the pack." Jay slapped him on the back, grinning from ear to ear.
"It'll be a day for the history books, that's for sure. But we still have a lot of work to do!" Jay's boisterous tone echoed through the corridor. He kept his hand on Nick's back, guiding him back around.
"You're in good hands, Nick. Jay here will help you get your suit fitted and show you the decorations we picked out," Alpha Night assured Nick. "Enjoy this as much as you can. It'll be a day you want to remember two centuries down the line!"
Nick blocked out his father's words, focusing on following Jay. It'll be fine.
The fitting room had two seamstresses in it, one of whom Nick recognized immediately.
"Mira!" Mira turned around, gasping and running to hug Nick almost as soon as she saw him.
"Nick! You're finally back!"
Mira was possibly the kindest omega in their pack, always being the one to help people when they were down and offering guidance to the young girls of the pack. Her mate, Max, was the head of the pack warriors. He was the best fighter in the pack, riviling even Alpha Night himself. He was the reason their pack was known for their strength and brute force, and why none of the other packs ever messed with them.
Needless to say, Mira and Max were a very well known couple in their pack.
"How've you been, Mira?" Nick asked while being dragged towards the mannequin with his suit on.
