Lance was used to being the protective one, it was his duty to protect the weak and innocent. But when you came into his life, things changed. You were strong and independent, and didn't need anyone to look after you. Lance admired you for that, but at the same time, he couldn't help but worry about your safety.

"Do you like, Y/n? Lance-kun?"

Lance froze in surprise as he found himself staring at Mash in disbelief. He looked down at your sleeping figure and let out a sigh.

"I don't exactly know what I'm feeling...we've had our ups and downs...I don't think she would even see me like that..." Lance said calmly.

"I see...'"Mash mumbled, he then sat down on the floor, beside your bed, his hands gently stroking your hair.

"She deserves all the love she can get...I feel like maybe I haven't paid enough attention to Y/n...she's always looked after me and tended to my needs...but I haven't ever done anything for her..." Mash pouted slightly.

"She needs protecting more than anything, Lance-kun. She may not like being babied, but she needs it" Mash smiled as he watched your peaceful figure.

Lance felt his heart ache at Mash's words. He knew you were strong, but you also had your vulnerabilities. Mash was right. You needed someone to look after you, to care for you.

"It's our responsibility to protect her energy cores...I know you two have been looking into them in the library...so I'll help you too...' Mash said as he looked back at him, Lance's eyes widened slightly.

He had been researching the energy cores for a while now, trying to figure out a way to strengthen them. It was crucial for your survival, and Lance knew that. But he couldn't do it alone. He needed Mash's help.

''Thank you, Mash'' Lance said with a grateful smile.

"No Lang scum is hurting her" Mash's voice was filled with determination. Lance knew he was serious.

"Let's let her rest, come on" Lance said as he began to walk away

In Mash's room, he, Lance, and Finn were sitting around, discussing a pressing matter.

''So, you're saying those energy cores are the key to Y/n's survival?'' Finn asked curiously and worriedly. Lance nodded, his expression serious.

''Y/n couldn't trust any of the teachers, so I had to go to the one person that I knew I could 100% trust, and that was Headmaster Wahlberg. I told him about the situation with Y/n's energy cores, and he was the one who told me that there was only one record in Easton's history of a magic user also having energy cores as their life source'' Lance asked

''Who was that person?'' Mash asked, intrigued.

''Unfortunately, he doesn't know. All records were destroyed, but he did mention that these energy cores could bring trouble if anyone ever found out about them, and by that, I mean bad people.'' Lance's tone was grave, and both Finn and Mash were listening intently.

''Professor Wahlberg also informed me that these energy cores are linked to some sort of awakening, but I just don't know what that is'' Lance let out a sigh, clearly concerned for your  safety.

Both Finn and Mash were surprised by this new information. They had no idea that they could attract dangerous attention from others.

''So...as long as nobody knows about them, she will be safe?'' Finn asked, hoping for a positive answer. Lance nodded,

''Yes, but we must do everything in our power to protect those energy cores. They are literally her life lines''

Finn's expression turned determined, and Mash spoke up,

''Don't worry, Lance-Kun. I won't let anyone hurt her or even find out anything about them''

Feeling a sense of camaraderie and a need to protect their fellow student and friend, Finn now spoke up,

''Let's form a Y/n protection Squad!'' Both Mash and Lance looked at each other before turning back to Finn.

''Of course!'' They said in unison, their determination and loyalty shining in their eyes.

And so, the Y/n Protection Squad was formed, with Mash, Lance, and Finn at the helm, along with Dot and Lemon. They vowed to protect you and your energy cores at all costs, even if it meant putting themselves in danger. Because at Easton Academy, loyalty and friendship meant everything, and they would do anything for each other. Of course you on the other hand had no idea this was being planned.

It was just another normal day at school for you, but as the final bell rang and the hallways cleared out, you couldn't resist the temptation of wandering the corridors after hours. You loved the rush of excitement that came with it, the feeling of breaking the rules and exploring the school in a way that you normally couldn't.

As the days went by and the sky slowly turned dark, you found yourself sitting in one of the arches, overlooking the school grounds. You couldn't take your eyes off the moon, its beauty mesmerizing you as you absentmindedly moved your hand in the air, creating small swirls of water and fire.

But suddenly, you felt a sense of unease wash over you. Your hand stopped moving as you looked around, trying to figure out what was wrong. Without thinking, you jumped off the ledge and found yourself wandering down a different corridor. As you turned around a corner, a loud bang and gust of wind hit your face, causing you to stumble back.

!!!

There, in front of you, was a massive wooden door on the floor and a guy standing on the other side of it. He seemed just as surprised to see you as you were to see him.

''Damn...this looks interesting...is it a hidden lair...?'' You asked in curiosity, walking towards him.

You couldn't help but notice his hair and his eyes. They looked familiar, and suddenly, it clicked in your mind.

!!!

''You look like Finn...'' You mumbled in surprise. His stoic expression remained unchanged as he looked at you.

''Oh shit! You're his brother, aren't you?!'' You exclaimed, pointing at him in shock. He didn't seem too thrilled with your discovery.

''Who are you supposed to be?'' He asked with annoyance evident in his tone.

''Oh nobody...just someone who is not of the Divine Visionary's concern'' You snorted, rolling your eyes.

He let out a sigh, seemingly unimpressed with your response.

''Ah...you're that girl everyone was talking about...the one who messed with that rich kid'' He mumbled calmly, observing you. You couldn't help but laugh.

''Guess fame will get you anywhere'' You joked, shrugging your shoulders.

''Please don't become another enemy. I already have too many of those and quiet frankly I don't want another one, especially not one of my friend's brother'' You mumbled with a small pout

He just stared at you, whilst you found him interesting already

''What was your name again...Ron? No wait...Rin? No no no...Ah! Rayne!'' You said, finally remembering his name.

''Can I follow you down there? I won't annoy you, I promise. I just have a feeling that some idiots are down there'' You asked, hoping he would say yes.

💭 ''My Mash antenna is tingling...he's down there...I can feel it...''

He hesitated for a moment, but eventually gave a small nod.

''Fine, but don't get in my way'' He said before opening the door

''Okie...'' You gave him a thumbs up
