Adena's POV:

I was walking down the hallway when I heard the front door open. I decided to see what was going on. I snuck over and peaked into my fathers throne room. I saw two guys, one was a saytr, and a girl. I listened to their conversation.

I heard my father say Son of Poseidon, which shocked me. I never thought that I had any cousins besides gods and goddesses.

I heard the tone in my fathers voice, both amusement and anger.

I heard my cousin say war among the gods and it made me nervous. Wouldn't that be really bad?

I heard him say to return Zeus's master bolt, but he didn't have it, I know that, he would have told me.

I felt the ground shake and I tensed. My cousin should probably stop talking, my father's getting very angry. I saw our warrior skeletons run past me into the throne room, which made me hide more so I wouldn't be seen.

Soon I could hear my father ranting angrily and I peaked back in. I heard my cousin mention a pay raise for Charon and I went pale, dad's had an earful from him already, hearing it from someone else will just make it worse. My dad's yelling now, getting angrier by the second.

After a bit more ranting and comments from my cousin, I heard my father mention his helm. He's been angry about it going missing for a while now. I heard the girl speak up in surprise, asking about his helm, and my father yelled at her not to play innocent.

He mentioned something about blackmail and a few other things. My cousin protested to my father that it wasn't the truth, I could hear the honesty in his voice, but my dad wouldn't listen.

He threatened to let the dead back into the mortal realm and my eyes widened. I heard him threaten to use my cousin's skeleton to lead his army.

They talked a bit more when I heard my father tell my cousin to open his pack. I looked to see my cousin go pale. He did as told and took out a two-foot-long metal cylinder, spiked at both ends. I looked at it in awe.

My cousin said it was a mistake, and I believed him. He looked so shocked, and his voice made it clear from the beginning that he was telling the truth. My father didn't believe him though.

I saw the skeletons aim their weapons and some Furies come down onto my father's throne.

My father mentioned a 'her'. He made a ball of gold fire appear in his hand, I knew in an instant that it was a living soul. He made it explode into a woman in pain, right in front of my cousin. My father threatened to kill her if my cousin displeased him.

My cousin reached into his pocket and my father mentioned pearls which made him stiffen. My dad mentioned something about his brother and tricks.

My cousin took out three pearls and my father mentioned that only each can protect one person.

My cousin looked to his friends, mentioning that they were tricked. The girl agreed but questioned why. She mentioned a voice in a pit and I went pale. I knew what put she meant, and I knew who was in that pit.

They argued about who would stay here. There was three of them plus the woman's soul. There wasn't enough pearls.

My cousin shouted at them to stop arguing, and made them both take the pearls. He looked back at the frozen soul sadly, saying that he'd be back. My fathers smirk, that I hadn't noticed till now, faded.

My cousin said that he'd find my father's helm and reminded him about Charon's pay raise. He also mentioned to play with Cerberus and that he liked red rubber balls. Oh, no wonder he growled at me every time I tried to give him a stick. I just thought he didn't like me.

My father protested as my cousin and his friends threw the pearls down at their feet.

At first nothing happened and my father ordered for them to be destroyed. Then, just as the skeletons opened fire, the pearl fragments at their feet exploded with a burst of green light. They were encased in spheres and started floating up. As my father yelled in rage, our whole home shook. The three went through the ceiling and were gone.

My father was sending his army after them, and he looked angry, really really angry.

After a while, I walked out. He looked at me in shock, then glared.

"You know not to be out in open when others are here." He lectured.

"I know. I think he wasn't lying though, he looked truly surprised." I said.

He glared more and said, "Don't start with me Adena."

"I'm sorry, I just wanted to say that." I mumbled with a sigh.

"Go to your room, we'll discuss this later, when I'm in a better mood." He grumbled.

I nodded and left the throne room. But I hid outside of it, wanting to know what happens next.

For a while, nothing happened. Then I heard the Furies return and start to tell my father the truth.

I smirked and shouted, "I knew it!!"

I went pale after I said that and heard my father growl in anger.

"Go to your room!! I'll deal with you later!!" He yelled in anger, the ground shaking a tiny bit.

I didn't have to be told a third time. I ran as fast as I could to get to my room and closed the door quickly.

I knew then what I wanted. I wanted to leave. To explore. I wanted to find my own life. And I knew the first thing I had to do. I had to find my cousin, and soon. And one thing I must do completely and above all else, keep this all from my father.

A/N: OK, so I would like to ask you, should I keep this close to the second book or no? Should I even go near the third book? Be in mind, if I do that with the third book, I'm not sure how close it'll be to the actual book (though I do know that Nico fans everywhere will be saying 'YES!! Please give us Nico!!'). Reply soon, tomorrow I'd like to get started on the next chapter before this flame of creativeness burns out!!!!
