Adena's POV:

It's been months since my cousin came, and I've now found a way to leave without father noticing until I'd already be gone.

I was hiding my packed things behind the fire in my fire place in my room. All my stuff is fireproof so I don't burn anything.

I was petting Flame, wishing she could come with me, but the travel through fire would burn her to a crisp. I would never want that, I adore her too much.

"Goodbye my friend, don't worry, I'll be back on the end of summer, don't you worry." I whispered to her.

She whimpered sadly. I gave her a small smiled then got up. I walked over and grabbed my stuff. I went through the fire and in the next second, I was in New York.

I looked around. I was next to a tin bucket with a few cinders, probably left by a homeless guy. I heard an apartment door open and I turned to look.

And there he was, walking out of his apartment building. I followed him secretly, curious what his life was like besides monster fighting and saving the world.

After a while, he entered a place with a tall guy. I secretly followed. There was a bell and tons of teens went to certain rooms, including him and that tall guy.

I've heard of these places, I think they're called schools, which means I should go to the office.

I walked over and they gave me a name tag. I had told them that I was visiting my cousin and that it was a surprise, which was totally true.

There was a group of other guys and they acted weird, even had weird names written on their name tags. I shrugged mentally and went to find his classroom after getting a list from the lady at the desk.

I found it and quietly came in. I stood in the back.

I soon realized that this wasn't a normal school, because I've met dead teachers, and they described it way differently.

They were taking weird tests, the teachers here were talking weirdly. I shrugged it off. I watched my cousin, and those weird guys who set me on edge.

We got to what was called a gym, as the sign said. I stayed out of the 'Boy's Locker Room', guessing I, being a girl, was unwelcome.

He came out of the room and noticed me finally. He looked at me weirdly and I tilted my head.

I watched as they set up a game of what I was taught as dodge ball, ghosts and I would play when I had nothing better to do.

I saw all the tougher, and probably more popular, kids went to one side, those weird guys with them, and the more weak and wimpy kids on the other, which most of the second side tried to hide rather then run to the balls like the other team.

I sighed and decided to join them, I felt bad for my cousin. I stood by him. I noticed him trying to encourage the others when he was hit in the stomach by a ball, hard. I winced sympathetically.

I noticed that it was one of the weird guys, and something else. They were growing by the second. I mean, I'm used to the weird, I live in the Underworld, but this is still shocking. I couldn't help but stare.

They started calling him Perseus Jackson. So that's his name... probably named after that long dead cousin of mine, man he's a jerk, hope this cousin isn't like that.

The now giants said they wanted us for lunch. They called themselves Laistrygonians. Gosh, I've heard of them in my lessons, they gave me the creeps.

They made big, solid balls with holes that had fire coming out of them appear. Perseus started dodging as they threw them at him. They also threw them at this tall guy that was hanging out with him today. He dodged and caught them, which surprised me. I caught one and winced from how heavy it was, the fire didn't bother me.

Perseus was in the way of some that he couldn't dodge fast enough, but his friend ran and caught them before it hit him and threw them at the giants. They vaporized like most monsters.

The rest seemed mad. I did the same with the one I had caught, almost missing. May cousin's friend and I kept throwing the balls at the giants, but when it came to the leader, he was too fast for him and hit him with one. I watched him go. He crashed into the wall, making a big hole.

"Dang." I mumbled. I looked back at the giant, who was cornering Perseus. Before he can throw one last ball at him, a girl with blond hair and stormy grey eyes stabbed him, making him vaporize.

The kid that was hanging out with the giants without realizing that they were giants started freaking out about her. I rolled my eyes and toned him out.

Perseus and her were talking and he called her Annabeth, and she said she's been here the whole time. Weird, I hadn't seen her. She said she had been watching him to. She glanced at me briefly, and I knew that she might have seen me following him. She looked right back at him.

Just then a bunch of adults cane rushing in. Annabeth told him to meet her outside and to take his friend and me with him. I was a bit surprised. She then put a cap on and vanished. I was shocked. It must of been like my dad's helm.

Then Percy was accused of setting the building on fire. He grabbed a pen from, I'm guessing his, pants and telling his friend and I to come on before jumping through the hole in the building. I followed behind and so did his friend. I have a feeling that this is gonna be fun.
