Tommy Shelby and Grace Burgess's wedding cast palpable tension in the air as a choir boy traversed the aisle, distributing hymn sheets. The congregation stood divided by both the aisle and social classes, with clear distinctions between the bride's and groom's factions.

On Grace's side, the military presence was pronounced, evident in the uniforms, braids, and epaulettes that marked the guests' association with the British army, particularly the King's Irish Regiment. Men of varying ages, bedecked with medals and sashes, dominated Grace's guests, while the women wore sombre, dark attire, reflecting their discontent with her union with Tommy.

The choice of attire by Grace's family did not go unnoticed, causing a stir of disapproval from both the Shelby family and Tommy himself.

Tensions simmered in the church as the choir boy retraced his steps up the aisle, handing hymn sheets to the groom's family, the Shelbys and their entourage. The Shelby family harboured reservations about Tommy's marriage to Grace, yet beneath the surface, there lingered an undercurrent of both relief and happiness that Tommy was finally taking the plunge.

Ada turns her gaze towards her brother, inquiring, "Where's Diego and Tia?"

John Shelby and his wife Esme, cradling a sleeping infant named Jessica, look at Ada with a mixture of confusion and an indescribable emotion.

"They won't be joining us," John replies, shaking his head. "Tia has been seriously unwell for the past month, and Diego, well, he's been furious at Tommy for the last two years. It's a wonder he's still part of the Blinders."

Finn, the Shelby family's youngest member, stands alongside Esme, proudly displaying the distinctive insignia of a Peaky Blinder. Next to him stands Linda, the wife of Arthur Shelby. Possessing a remarkable presence, she appears to be at least a decade younger than Arthur, emanating an air of dignity and command.

Then there's Polly Grey, who is reading the Bible. She refuses a hymn sheet from the choir boy, looking up at the effigy of Christ. The matriarch is not happy that this day has come about, still hoping, even at that moment, that the door will open and an all-too-familiar face will show herself.

A head turns in the aisle in front, and Arthur, who is the best man smiles at Linda and then half turns to wink at Polly. He knows her mood and wants to tease. His aunt glares at him.
