Chapter 1

I groaned as I was pushed into the cell. I turned and gave the cop a look. Did he have to put me in a cell with Kane Wallace? Kane looked up with a smirk. "What's a beautiful girl like you doing in jail?" He asked. I sent Kenny a look.

"If you don't like it, I can put you in with Crystal." He pointed over his shoulder. I glanced back and shivered.

"I prefer him." I mumbled. Kane smirked as he stood up from the bench. Crystal creeped me out. At least Kane was only annoying with too big of an ego.

"What are you in for?" Kane asked. I glared at him. "I got arrested for fighting." He told me when I didn't say anything.

"Kenny thinks I put the graffiti on the wall down Cherry Street." I finally told him after a few minutes of him just staring at me.

"Did you?" He asked.

"You can't prove it was me." He laughed.

"I'll get proof." Kenny yelled.

"Is Phoenix your real name?" I nodded.

"My mom had a thing for birds. She used to tell me that I'd rise like the Phoenix." I replied. He nodded with narrowed eyes.

"I saw you." He mumbled. I raised an eyebrow at him. "You walked over when I was fighting James. I saw you." He explained.

"See, I didn't put that graffiti up. You're my witness." He just laughed and shook his head.

"All right, Wallace. You've been bailed out." Kenny said unlocking the cell. I gave Kenny a look.

"He's my witness that I didn't do the graffiti." I told him. Kane nodded.

"Nobody's going to believe this criminal." Kenny told me. Kane gave him a look.

"I am not a criminal. I've never even been convicted of anything. You just like to arrest me. I'm starting to think you like my company." I laughed at Kane.

"Get out of here before I find something else to charge you with." Kenny snapped. Kane gave me a look then left.

"It's your lucky day, Love. You've been bailed out too." Kenny told me a few minutes later. I just gave him a look.

"Who bailed me out?" I asked. I knew my mom or brother weren't going to bail me out. My best friend, Liz, didn't have the money. Kane smirked at me as he walked back up behind Kenny.

"I did. Like I said, I know you didn't do it. Plus, I had the extra money." Kane explained. I just blinked at him. He didn't know me. Why would he bail me out? Kane shrugged. "Or you can just stay here and I can get my money back." I quickly shook my head.

"Thank you." I thanked him. He just shrugged and walked away.

"You took my money to bail some chick out?" Some guy asked as soon as Kane and I walked out of the building. Kane just shrugged.

"This is my jail buddy now. Plus, I know she didn't do what she was arrested for." The guy gave him a look.

"How the hell would you know that?" He demanded.
