Flirting with Danger

Chapter 7

I blinked when I noticed all the guys in the truck. I glanced back at Kane. This wasn't keeping things between us hidden. He waved a hand dismissively. "Don't worry. They aren't going to say anything." He assured me. I slowly nodded.

"This is why I had to sit in the back?" Some guy asked, well more like whined. Kane narrowed his eyes.

"I wasn't putting her back there with any of the two of you. Especially when she doesn't even know any of you." Kane snapped. They all three just looked at him with wide eyes. "Phoenix, these are my friends, Idiot, Stupid, and Dumbass." Kane introduced them jokingly causing me to laugh. "Marquis, Darren, and Steve." He told me. I nodded at them as I climbed into the passenger seat.

I looked up at the store with wide eyes. "What are we doing here?" I asked. Kane just smiled at me.

"We have some business to take care of. You just sit right here." I hesitated, then nodded.

"Fine, but don't leave me waiting too long." I snapped. He just laughed as he climbed out of the truck with his friends. I huffed as I watched them leave. Why did he invite me to come along if I was going to have to stay in the truck? I looked around. It was almost three in the morning. Nothing was even open. Oh, that store is. I looked around again. Kane and them weren't coming. I sighed as I climbed out of the truck.

"Where the hell have you been?" Kane snapped as soon as I walked back to the truck. I shrugged.

"I got bored. I told you not to leave me waiting too long." I replied like it was no big deal. Kane huffed and narrowed his eyes.

"What the hell are you wearing?" He motioned to my hat. I smiled as I held another one up.

"I got one for you too." I told him as I put in on his head.

"King and Queen?" Steve asked with a raised eyebrow. I shrugged again.

"I'm a queen and he's a king." I explained with a smile. All three of the other guys just looked between Kane and I. Kane just shook his head as he climbed in the truck.

"So, what exactly did I come for?" I asked as Kane drove down the road. He glanced at me with a smirk.

"Ever been to a water park at night?" I shook my head causing him to smile.

"I really don't want to get arrested." I told him. He just sent me a look.

"I wouldn't do anything to get you arrested." I could hear the promise in his voice. I gave him a skeptical look. He put his hand on my thigh. "You don't trust me?" He asked with that annoying smirk on his face.

"Not when you look at me like that. This is why I don't like you." I snapped causing him to laugh.

"What did I ever do to you?" He asked. I sent him a look. He knew what he did. "You can't hate me forever. That was years ago." I just looked away from him.

"You don't have an answer?" Darren asked. I glanced back at the three guys. They looked like they were all squished.

"He's just annoying and I hate that smirk. He's too cocky and has too big of an ego." I replied.

"Hey, you said some pretty nice things that helped bust that ego." He reminded me. I sent him a look.

"I do not recall ever saying anything nice to or about you." I lied. He glanced at me with a smile.

"Do you need me to remind you? Hmm... You said that I was a pretty good fighter. You also said I was good in bed." I hit his arm.

"Shut up." I snapped. The three guys in the backseat laughed.

"I like her." One of them said.

"Now you see why I like to keep her around." Kane told them. I just studied him.

I looked between Kane and the waterpark. "I really don't want to be charged with breaking and entering." I mumbled. Darren poked his head between the seats and dangled some keys off his finger.

"It's not breaking and entering if you have keys." He sang. Kane gave the guys a look then nodded for them to get out. He waited until they were all three out with the door shut before looking at me.

"If you really don't want to do this then just tell me. I'm not going to push you into anything." He whispered. I studied his face.

"I just don't want to get arrested again. It'll cause an argument with my mom and we haven't even talked since the last one." I started to ramble about my mom and I arguing. Kane chuckled then kissed me.

My eyes widened at the feel of Kane's lips on mine. I put my hand on his cheek as I kissed him back. He slowly pulled away to look at me with shining eyes. "You were rambling." He whispered. "But, we are not going to get arrested. I promise you that. If the cops just happen to show up, we'll make sure they don't see you. I am not going to let you get arrested tonight." He promised. I took a deep breath then nodded.

"Okay. I know I've been arrested before. I just, it's never been for anything too bad and I don't want to argue with my mom again." I admitted. Kane grabbed my hand.

"I get it. I do. Just live a little. I promise that nothing is going to happen. Do you trust me?" I nodded without even having to think about it causing him to smile. "Then come on." I rolled my eyes as we climbed out of the truck.

I smiled as I sat down beside Kane. "I have to admit. You were right. I've had a lot of fun." I told him. He just smiled at me and pushed a piece of wet hair behind my ear. Darren had the keys to open the park, plus work all the rides. All I had to do was point to the ride I wanted to go on, and he started it up for us. We'd been on almost every ride. I shivered and rubbed my arms.

"You getting cold?" Steve asked. I nodded with a yawn.

"We should probably be heading home anyway." Kane whispered giving me a look. Everybody nodded. Kane wrapped an arm around me as we stood up. "I have blankets, towels, and a change of clothes in the truck." He told me. I nodded then glanced around. The guys were already headed towards the truck.

"Can I just go to your place?" Kane nodded with a small smile.

"You are always welcome there."

"Can I change? I'm freezing." I asked through chattering teeth when we were finally at the truck. Kane nodded then opened a little box in the back of the truck. He dug around it then pulled a towel, a pair of boxers, a shirt, and a blanket out. I gave him a look causing him to shrug.

"They're the extra clothes I keep in case I need them. You never know." He whispered. I nodded as I pulled my wet shirt off. I'd already taken my pants off. I handed him my shirt then climbed into the truck. Darren and the other guys were making sure all the rides were shut off and locking everything back up. I quickly dried off then put Kane's clothes on. I wrapped the blanket around me then got comfortable in my seat just as the guys were coming back. Kane opened the door and made sure I was dressed before letting the guys get in. They were all wrapped in blankets and towels.

"To my house?" Kane asked causing everybody to nod.
