After the encounter with Chamber, he was shown his room. It was the same size as the others and nothing special to it. It had a bed with a bedside table, in the corner of the room there was a desk with a computer on it. It was soundproof with thick walls and a fancy door.

Shadow POV

I had decided to go training, so I at least did have to talk to them, but of course, my luck was just not with me today, because as I made my way to the training room I spotted Fade, sitting alone with an air of mystery surrounding her. She was known for her unique ability to unravel the deepest fears of others, a talent that both intrigued and intimidated everyone in our team. As my luck would have it, today was the day she decided to focus her attention on me.

Ignoring her gaze, I entered the training room with the hope of losing myself in the rhythmic hum of gunfire and the clatter of reloading weapons. Perhaps the intense drills and exercises would be enough to drown out her attempts to dig into my psyche.

The room was dimly lit, the harsh fluorescent lights casting long shadows on the metallic surfaces. Targets lined the walls, waiting to be blasted into oblivion. I grabbed my preferred weapon, a sleek rifle that felt familiar in my hands. The rhythmic popping of bullets echoed through the room as I started my routine, focusing on the precision of my shots.

However, it didn't take long for the silence to be shattered by Fade's voice. "Shadow, you can't escape and hide your fears from me."

I gritted my teeth, frustration bubbling beneath the surface. Why couldn't she leave me alone? I continued my training, hoping that my actions would convey the message I wasn't interested in whatever mind games she wanted to play.

But Fade, persistent as ever, stood up and approached me. "Face your fear"

I clenched my jaw, my annoyance growing. The last thing I wanted was to delve into my fears, to expose vulnerabilities that could be exploited. I shot her a sharp look, but she remained undeterred.

As Fade extended her hand towards me, a barrier formed in my mind, preventing her from delving into my thoughts. A defensive mechanism I had developed over the years, shielding myself from unwanted intrusion. She frowned, realizing that breaking through wouldn't be as easy as she thought.

"You can't keep everyone out forever," Fade remarked, her gaze piercing my defences.

I sighed, realizing that my attempt to escape through training had failed. Annoyed and exhausted, I decided to retreat to my room. Maybe some time alone would help me regain my composure and shut out the persistent probing of Fade.

Without a word, I holstered my weapon and walked away, leaving Fade behind in the training room.

3rd Person POV

Shadow's retreat into his room was a futile attempt to escape the relentless scrutiny that seemed to haunt him. As the door closed behind him, he let out a sigh of relief, finally free from the watchful eyes and probing questions. His room offered a temporary sanctuary—a space where the shadows could wrap around him, shielding him from the prying gazes and penetrating inquiries.

However, the brief respite was interrupted by the intrusive sound of Cypher's camera. Shadow's irritation flared, evident in the terse exchange that followed.

"For Christ's sake, Cypher, stop having cameras anywhere near my room."

"My apologies, Shadow," came Cypher's unapologetic response. The enigmatic surveillance expert showed no remorse for his constant attempts to unravel the secrets concealed within Shadow's veiled existence.

In the confines of his soundproof room, Shadow couldn't escape the feeling of being observed, analyzed, and catalogued. The very essence of his being, shrouded in mystery, seemed to be a puzzle that Cypher was determined to solve.

As Shadow paced within the dimly lit room, he couldn't shake the relentless thoughts that echoed through his mind. The encounter with Fade lingered in her words a haunting reminder that his defences, though formidable, were not impenetrable. The shadows that clung to him, both literal and metaphorical, seemed to dance with an unsettling rhythm.

Meanwhile, in the surveillance room, Cypher's frustration grew. Despite his meticulous surveillance and advanced technology, Shadow remained a mystery—a puzzle with missing pieces that defied Cypher's analytical prowess.

"What is he hiding? I can't find anything on him," Cypher muttered to himself, his fingers dancing across the keyboard, attempting to breach the fortress of Shadow's secrets.

Author note: I know the chapter is short, so the next one I will make it a bit longer
