"Brittany, what the hell is this?" Santana asked, sitting next to Brittany on the steps.
"The chess club is helping me recreate the historic 1972 World Championship between Bobby Fischer and Boris Spassky. And it's the only creative outlet I have now that my life is one never-ending math equation."
"This is freaking me out. This is not you. You love to dance. And I know that you think that you're a little rusty right now, but you'll get it back. I'll prove it to you. Let's do a number together." Santana tells her.
"No. Those days are over. This is my life now."
Later, Mercedes and Ashleigh stood in front of Marley, Kitty, Ryder, and Artie...
"Where Blaine?" Asked Marley.
"I've got Blaine's vote anyway." Ashleigh muttered, shrugging her shoulders. "He wouldn't dare vote for anyone other than me."
"It all comes down to how cool you are. Rachel Berry, she represents Broadway, the past. Ashleigh's the future. A pop diva, I'll even bet every last penny I've got." Mercedes said.
Rachel was standing in front of Sam, Blaine, Unique, Tina...
"I'm voting for your sister anyway. She's my fiancée." Blaine mumbled, shrugging his shoulders.
"I mean, my sister may be a pop diva, but the fact is that this song is a hit from one of the longest-running Broadway musicals of all time." Rachel says.
"Question: Why do they call it Broadway when most of the theaters are actually not on Broadway?" Asked Sam.
Back with Mercedes, Ashleigh, Marley, Kitty, Ryder, and Artie...
"You know, this vote asks the question: What is glee club? I mean, is it a training ground for... for theme parks and cruise ship performers who can't wait to get on some outdoor stage and belt out Pippin, or is it a place where stars are born? You know the kind of stars you hear on the actual radio. And Rachel will claim she beat Kurt, but really, he purposefully let her win because he felt sorry for her." Ashleigh said.
Back with Rachel, Sam, Blaine, Unique, Tina...
"I beat Kurt singing this song on our first diva-off." Rachel says.
"Yeah, Ashleigh said it was because Kurt felt sorry for you." Blaine tells her.
Mercedes and Ashleigh stood in front of Marley, Kitty, Ryder, and Artie...
"I am better than her!" Ashleigh shouted, pouting softly.
"Pfft, so much better." Mercedes tells them.
Rachel, Sam, Blaine, Unique, Tina...
"I've always been better than her. Just vote for me." Said Rachel.
"I mean, she wrote original songs..." Sam tells her.
"Plus, Taylor Swift actually took one of her original songs. Quite honestly, I don't think that's true, Rachel. I think she's better than you." Unique says.
