________________________________________________________________________________________________________________I got lost.
How the hell do I get lost on a boat after staring at a map for ten minutes?
Is there supposed to be a corridor right here? Or was it the other side of the hall?
To hell with this! When does it e--Stars flared in my vision. I stumbled back, clutching at the bronze walls for support.
After rubbing most of the pain out of my nose, I turned around. The hallway stretched out before me.
"Eeny meeny miney moe. I choose you!"
I pointed at the left side of the split. Placing my palm on the right wall, recalling the trick to get out of a maze. It was the right side, right? Or was it left?
I shook my head and walked ahead, palm on the right side of the corridor.
The walls were cool. And metallic. And smooth. And...
Oh, hey, I'm still walking. Maybe I took the wrong side? Did I make the wrong choice? Now I've done it. I'm lost! Now what do I do?
I turned a corner, lost in thought and rather depressed.
Do I keep walking? Do I sit down? I can't do anything right! Why didn't I die for good the first time? Maybe I could still jump down to the Phantomhive Manor. It'll still be there. Blissful ignorance is in reach. I just have to jump.
I entered a more familiar area, hope rising weakly. This looks familiar. Perhaps I did choose correctly! I could have just turned in a circle, though. That's it. That's what I did wrong. I'm going in a damn circle.
I paused in front of a doorway. Wait. I think I've seen this door before. It is a very familiar looking door. Maybe it's the galley door!
I turned the doorknob and pushed the door open.
After that, I proceeded to bang my head on the wall. All of that walking just to get back to my room! Why in the blazes did I even start that horridly long journey anyways?
Ugh. I sat down on the bed, dejected. This was going to be a nightmare. A horrible, horrible nightmare of a trip. I don't even like boats! Why am I still trying to live in such a desperate way? All I have to do is jump, it'll be over then.
Out of the blue, I heard a knock on the door. Instead of moaning and collapsing backwards on the bed like I was tempted to, I sighed, stood up, and opened the door. At the same time, I put my mask of idiocy and happiness back on.
Percy was standing there, probably expecting me to say something. So I did.
"I got lost." Ah, blunt and to the point. Shit, I need to sound happier. "Although, it was fun walking around the boat," I finished with a smile, albeit a fake one, but I've perfected it to look real. I've had years to do so, of course.
Percy's face had a look of understanding on it as he laughed. "Yeah, it is a big boat. I can see why you got lost. That's why I came back here to show you back to the galley."
