Mirkwood Noble District:
Cromwell Estate.
Hirum Cromwell sits in a spacious office decorated with fine furniture and plush leather seating. He's going thru his daily letters and skims quickly thru the names. Work mostly, "Hmmm. one from Governor Hastings...." he says.
He sets the rest to the side to open it later is when he sees the next missive bearing the blue/silver seal and ribbon of King Blackwater.
Scooping it up quickly, he breaks the seal and opens it.
He reads over it carefully and leans back in his chair in thought while rubbing his beard.
Finally, he sits up, looking towards his open office door: "AMITY!" He sounds out.
From within the house a clattering, and a distant voice. "Proceeding father!"
A thin but athletic blonde appears in his door and approaches him. Stopping a pace in from of his desk, she takes a disciplined stance before him indicative to military training.
"Yes father?" She says.
Amity, the only child to the Cromwells, had grown up unlike other little girls who played with dolls and dressed up. She was taught to fight, taught to use weapons and shields from an early age.
Her father's long standing as a noble and loyal subject to the crown earned him certain rights......and responsibilities.
One thing that was granted to the Cromwells was knighting Amity, but only after a lengthy campaign of fighting off a goblin King. Her exploits led to a sponsorship and acceptance into the purple Dragon Knights.
Furthermore, she had joined the guilds and was accepted into Boros League. A faction that closely upheld the laws set by the Azorious Senate. The Boros were a militant arm of the law and served to bring those to justice whether by choice or by force.
"I received a missive, it seems that the King has once again blessed the Cromwells with yet another duty."
"I take it that involves me, Father?"
Amity who has always been blunt. Never short with words, just conversation.
"Yes..." Hirum said. "The Boros will be accepting you as a Sunhome Guard. After your training, you will report to Captain Borin Keenseeker."
"The Nostromo?"She asked.
"Yes, apparently you will be the ships Quartermaster, so you will be learning to sail and to balance the business of its crew and cargo."
"I am to the guard the Prince?"
"Correct." Her father says.
She let's out a huff. "Father...he's an ass..."
Hirum cuts her off. "Tut tut tut.....the King is ill, and Prince Blackwater will become king one day. You must set aside your opinion and remember your purpose."
"For honor, for the Crown, ...... for Romeda!" She exclaimed.
"Right you are." He smiled.
He continued to look proudly upon her as a father would. He taught and guided her to this point in her life and even though he never got the son he wanted, his daughter was the pride in his eyes now.
He stood and approached her. "Amity, you will do great things if you stay the course. Protect the position....not the man."
They embrace lovingly.
"Yes Father!"
